Holy ****.

Went with a one-stop strategy because I didn't think I had the pace to make up an additional stop, and knew I couldn't let Rosberg win. I knew I would be taking a massive risk with tyre wear though - I had to do two laps in Q2 so my starting tyres were rooted. Still, had to take the risk.

Great start had me move past Rosberg up into first place. Wanted to conserve tyres but had to gap Rosberg because I knew I was going to fall off a cliff at the end, so I went quick and extended my lead up to 2.6 seconds in two laps.

Had to pit on lap 3 (wasn't going to risk putting another lap into 60% worn ultras), which I knew would put me under pressure in the next stint. Again though, I had to do it. Put the softs on and had a 2-second stop, so expected to come out in front, but Rosberg didn't pit. In fact, he went two laps longer on the ultra softs than I did. At this point I freaked out and turned the engine up.

After pit stops I led Rosberg by 4.8 seconds. I tried to conserve tyres from laps 5-10 but with Rosberg on fresh tyres he was far too quick for me to do it for long. On lap 10 I was sitting on 50% worn soft tyres, with a lead of 0.9 seconds. Rosberg had DRS on the straight and was significantly faster. Slip streamed and went for the slingshot, but clipped my rear left and sent both of us spinning. Thankfully I came out of it better than he did and returned to track. Vettel went past us both into first place, I rejoined in second and Rosberg in third, four seconds behind.

By the last lap of the race I was at 80% tyre wear, but managed to bring it home in second with Rosberg mere tenths of a second behind me.

Finished 1st in drivers' championship by 6 points. Third in constructors' because dickhead Wehrlein scored a grand total of 5 points throughout the entire season. After upgrades, had the third-best car on the grid by the last race, behind only Mercedes and Ferrari.

What a game.

You should go into marketing, I think I might buy this

Dannnnnnn are you going to do a 2nd season with the same car, or start again on the highest difficulty in season 1? Pretty impressive you did it on Legend difficulty.
I plan on getting the platinum so I'll be sticking with Manor until I unlock all the car upgrades (four or five more to go). Hopefully Wehrlein is less of a gimp this season so I can get the constructors' title out of the way too. Haven't decided on the difficulty yet but chances are I'll give Ultimate a go.

In fairness, I do still have some assists on. Traction control, ABS, automatic transmission and have the driving line on for corners (although I mostly use my own judgment, I like having it there), so it's not true legend, just Legend AI. Honestly I haven't had much trouble with the races since I started upgrading the car, but the practice/qualifying demands seem disproportionately hard in the higher difficulties. Kind of frustrating.

Hahaha, just had one hell of a glitch - Verstappen just did a lap of Monza in 0:56.987. Only a lazy 25 seconds faster than the all-time lap record!
I had Massa pull a first sector time of 0:0:01 in Austin during a practice session

Anyone tried the Sauber in career? F--k me what a shitbox. I get murdered on corners as I can't apply any power without spinning out, even with traction control on

lol, thats pretty cool. I remember watching them live in Melbourne and they were sliding all over the place through the corners

Have graduated from Expert to Legend in career mode AI difficulty. Big step up just to earn the resource points in practice. The race itself seems more fun though, with the AI trying some sneaky moves. Managed to finish 2nd at Suzuka and it's so rewarding.

So just finished my first season with Renault getting 4th in the constructors championship and 1st in the drivers championship. Got contract offers from Force India, Haas, and Toro Rosso... So stuck with Renault. Hopefully a big team offers me a contract soon.

Yeah I went with Haas first up, won the championship and didn't even receive another offer. It was just keep driving with Haas. Sucks because I got really sick of the noise the car makes by the end of the first season and was desperate to change to any other team.
