Wellingham is a better player than Young....and Young is definitely not a like for like replacement for Wellingham.

But Wellingham to me is merely a bonus player. Can play inside or outside, strong overhead and tackles well, can play tagging roles etc. But is not elite in any category. He is just a nice compliment to a strong midfield.

Young on the other hand offers something completely unique to Collingwood. We don't have enough line-breakers.

I don't think Young will be used on the half back line because he is typically used more as a wingman. I want him pumping the ball inside 50.

Sorry mate. Actually bothered to add some detail a couple of minutes ago. And it sounds like we're on the same page. Freo is in the same boat. Need pace, outside runners and line breakers. Up until the time we brought Pearce over via FA, we only had Hill to provide genuine pace and line breaking, outside running. Tag hill, and it turns into much more of an arm wrestle, as we lack line breakers.

Wellingham may be a more complete player, but he didn't fit the need at the club as well as guys like Pearce or Young. Which is what you've said is the case at the Pies... similar deal at Freo.

Will add a nice little dimension to our team as we seek to improve our "outside" game a little more.

His run and carry plays along with his penetration in his kicking will be a massive boost coming off a wing.

Welcome to Collingwood Youngy.

Yes you guys did very well with Pearce. He was actually the one I was looking at.

I think Pearce is more suited to a half back flank....and Young on a wing. We probably needed both!

I doubt that a lot of Hawk players would be blaming Young for their GF loss - not after looking at a replay of their own performances
Yep, certainly wasn't 'a one man at fault' situation. Young can't be blamed for the kicking woes experienced on the day, and in the Prelim.

Disappointed to see Youngy go, but that's the modern game, where loyalty (both player-to-club and club-to-player) is more and more a quaint notion. I'm sure Hawthorn wanted him to stay, but not at any price.

Um, you're a Melbourne supporter? you barrack for a club that is irrelevant... you just picked up Dawes??? Man you really are a dill aren't you?

Bye bye....loser

And you would know all about torn a** holes being a Melbourne supporter :) Makes you the specialist being the finger and all.
It's even juicier, he's a St Kilda supporter too embarrassed to show them as his club.

Im sure his team mates are still wrapt he cost them this years GF Final. Guess he can share stories with Maxwell after Bartal tore him a new one in 2011.
I'm sure he has other memories that he can share.

What a shame you or the saints can't hey? How's it going to feel that the only thing your captain will be remembered for is this:

Well, I can tell you this. With the deluge of half back flankers we have, the last place D. Pearce will be played is the half back flank. We need quick wingmen that'll run all day, and can actually kick. Pearce fits that bill perfectly.

If you guys are chasing a back flanker, Roberton is still available. Pretty handy as a third tall or pinch-KPD also. Going cheap... ;)

Or even better... give us a decent pick for Ibbotson. :thumbsu:* crosses fingers*

Yeah, that is a bloody good period of FA/trading for Collingwood.

With the money that the Pies have to pour into their recruitment and development departments, get used to seeing this sort of thing continue for a long time. Turning a mid second rounder and a rookie into two first round draft picks. Not an accident.

Like the one that he took six deep that caused the draw. Or the one he contested on the wing then ran the length of the gound and marked inside 50 to goal? Maybe the one he marked where Brown then punched him in the head and swung him to the ground then headlocked him? No fifty of course would have sealed the game.

Or what about in the first quarter of GF2 where he took that mark in the goal square and kicked a... oh wait.

So you sit on your arse then. Great contribution.

No I work, earn my money, pay my taxes and bills and then at the end of every month money comes out of my bank which then goes to the club to help them do what they think is neccessary to win a premiership. Maybe if your supporters could start doing that then you wouldn't have to run chook raffles every year just to survive.

So you do nothing for your club. Actually you don't even have a club do you?
