Getting race horse syndications popping up on my feed as friends like the syndication company. Thats cool the pictures of equine look nice. Its the comments that shit me for some reason. Bogan halfwits tagging their other bogan halfwits mates saying waddayareckon, could be the one. Heres a thought give big dazza a call and ask him if he wants to spend 5k on a 5% share of a horse that will have a career best 6th at a coonamble maiden.

But what's it going to achieve? You are one person althat has relatively no say in the overall spectrum of things. You are essentially a small number.
Who's to say you need to achieve something?

If we're playing by the numbers, we're all insignificant and so is everything we do. So why do anything at all?

On the gay marriage topic - you can support it without changing your profile pic

I don't know why it bothers people so much. A lot of folks have gay friends and are showing support & solidarity, others are just happy that society as a whole is progressing.

It's a lame and empty gesture, yes, but it's kind hearted and well intentioned.

Lets be realistic; how much of Facebook does anyone here really even need, or is considered 'of worth'?
I've just discovered google hangouts, which is essentially the same as messenger but allows you to avoid the unnecessary shit. I really can't see a single purpose for the newsfeed. I'm so over the whole telling everyone what I just did, likewise hearing it from others. Debating people on FB goes nowhere because people live in this fantasy world where you can put up posts, but can't have people debate you on them. Besides this forum is a pretty good avenue for debating.

The problem with that is trying to get people to convert. Google Hangouts is only really used when one person in the group doesn't have Facebook.

I'm using messenger only on my tablet. so no need to ever log into facebook. Furthermore my gf doesn't have facebook, so we use hangouts.

I just don't want to go through my News Feed and have every second post being a LGBT coloured photo.
Then don't check facebook for 48 hours?

It'll be gone by then and people will have moved on to something else.

I'm happy for the gay marriage ruling but the rainbow profile pictures just comes across as annoying and the person just trying to show off how "progressive" they are- so the USA changed their laws- maybe if it was Australia we can celebrate. There wasn't this kind of outpouring when the numerous other countries legalised same sex marriage. The changing of profiles pics is just something to do because everyone else is.

I'm conflicted between my adoration for the overwhelming and public support for LGBT equality and my anger at everyone pretending that an American Supreme Court decision has so much more relevance than any of the other dozens of countries that allow gays to marry :p

Of course it has more relevance.

Are you denying the influence American culture has in Australia?

Now you're just being opposing for the sake of it.

Even though the US Supreme Court has passsed the bill, Tony has said that he is still against same-sex marriage in Australia
Meh it's only a matter of time in Australia now.

I wouldn't even want same sex marriage in Australia to be associated with Abbotts legacy.

What's their reasoning for being against it? I haven't really followed. They just think the electorate don't want it?
Abbott is a Christian iirc

Sure, I knew that. Just didn't think his belief influenced policy that much.
You would think you would give the people what they want.

That said, they voted for him, not having Gay marriage was part of his policy when elected so he technically doing what he was voted for.
