Yesterday I spent the day being haranged by "fence sitters" who claimed that McManus was a lair for playing to the crowd after kicking his first goal and also that Parker is clogging up a position a youngster could take. I was politely indignant.

Macca has been classed by alot of people (media?) as on the way out and he can't kick. The chap plays with 100% guts every week and thus when he put that goal through it was just him saying that I can do it. Any person that has been through what Macca has been through would allow a little celebration. Fair go.

Parker played his usual solid game, providing leadership and a cool head. I was happy with his game. Fair go.

Whilst I'm at it, I got the idea from the media that some were questioning Farmers game. Maybe they were at a different game but I thought Farmer has been giving 100% and is applying alot more pressure to keep the ball in the 50.

Now we're starting to create excuses for them. If we need to shake up the line-up then we have to do it because we are crumbling under pressure. We can't keep defending our players if they aren't going to perform.

Full credit to Headland, he's really starting to produce. He seems to be the only one playing well in the pressure games.

I was just stating facts, if you call them excuses, so be it.

Yes Headland is playing alot better, but he's still softer than butter in summer.

The main isssue I think right now is the drop off on intensity at the contest - throughout the first weeks of the year, our tackling was all over the opposition, but the last games it has nosedived.

Very very disappointed on the weekend, the 13 beers I managed to quaff in the box @ the game took the edge off, but come yesterday and through to today, very disappointed.

Big game this week - who'd have thought our away record would be better than our home @ this point of proceedings?

Odd.

I have no problem with Macca, he is the Freo in Fremantle and in very recent time has suffered humiliation through the actions of a few. I thought his game was solid on Saturday night and sent a message to his critics. Shane Parker is also a stalwart and is as purple as Macca but at times he does some realy "DUMB" things that infuriate me. Shane is and has been consistantly is our best defender and one of the closest manning back man in the AFL. Two great champions of the Dockers. IMHO.

Macca is marking time until we develop/ recruit more midfield depth. Can we get someone with Macca's desperation who has better dsiposal? Macca is and always will be a Freo legend but just like Clive its getting time for Macca to face his mortality.

As for Farmer. Farmer is always the whipping boy. No matter how we lose the guys at the press conference have the "How did Jeff go today?" question ready by quarter time. Jeff wasn't bad on Saturday. I'd take that effort every week from Jeff and be happy.

If our problem is intensity, we're looking in the wrong place if we try and blame macca parker and farmer. Although I think macca is biding his time, i think parker has as long as he wants and farmer will be in the team til he retires. I wouldn't drop any of them.

All this talk about goal celebrations is a load of crap.. sheesh.

How any one can have ago at Macca is beyond me. 5th? in our best & fairest last year. If you want to apply the blow torch to any one, look no farther than our forward coach. Every time this year we have played a 3 man forward line, we have been slaughtered. King was running riot as a spare man in our forward line.

Spot on Geoff. I'm glad some one was watching the game.

Best thing I've read so far.

Don't get me wrong but I think it starts at the top & works it way down & CC was out coached on the weekend. I think CC has done a great job & he, like our players are on a sharp learning curve.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing & going back CC should have moved Thornton off Rocca & tagged King but I think his major downfall is that he is a players coach. We need him to take away the air of stability our players have. It is no longer acceptable for them to be competetive in games, they need to preform under pressure & it will only come if the bar is raised.
