I'm wondering if Bethesda are a bit scared of releasing at such a busy time so have reduced the wholesale price to allow retailers to sell cheaper.

I also purchased my copy at $59 ($55 after a discount), from an online store a few weeks ago.
So I'm not sure if this will be the new release price, or is just a tactic by Bethesda to get a few people to impulse buy, and stand out from the crowd a little.

Zero chance that Bethesda are concerned about sales enough to lower the price. This game is going to be GOTY and likely sell more copies than any other game this year.

They will charge the rest when it ships. Read the fine print noob :p
At work finsihing up a 3 month brief that needs to be done yesterday. So in regards to the fine print.

Haha, I can't see it outselling COD, Battlefront, GTA V, FIFA, Minecraft or even Witcher 3 for 2015 sales.
Assuming you mean opening week sales, even then it won't beat ^^^ those titles, as it'll be well down the list for this year given it's releasing later.

Unless that cheaper price really gives it a boost...

I'm looking forward to it, but I don't think Fallout is a massive seller like other franchises.

I would expect Fallout to have no issues beating most if not all of those. It's the most anticipated game of the year, possibly this gen.

COD is on the decline.
Battlefront has been proven to not be that good, or as good as we were expecting.
FIFA again it's an EA title so it sells but not at levels like the top games.
Minecraft?
Witcher 3 although a top game is still new to Playstation and was never a massive seller previously. Hardcore gamers game.

FWIW Mortal Kombat is the best selling game of 2015 so far.

Fallout will destroy it.

1 Mortal Kombat X
2 Grand Theft Auto V
3Battlefield Hardline
4Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
5Minecraft
6 Batman: Arkham Knight
7Dying Light
8NBA 2K15
9The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
10 Super Smash Bros.

Why is GTA V in that list?

GTA V is the highest selling title in Aus this year, that's why it's on the list.
COD: AW was actually up on the prior release, and BLOPS 2 was one of the highest sellers, so there may be some returning fans (not me though).
Battlefront may be getting some crap on forums, but the casual fan is still keen as anything. There are about 20 people at my work who are all getting it, 2-3 are getting Fallout 4, it's a casual-gamers paradise.
FIFA is the 2nd biggest seller this year.
Minecraft still sells 3rd highest seller this year.
Witcher 3 had huge sales, despite it's lack of prior fanbase due to word of mouth and being released at a quieter time of year.

Anyway, sales don't really matter, it was just interesting to see a few stores going at $59 for Fallout 4, yet nothing else has been that cheap, and I thought it was maybe Bethesda wanting to stand out from the crowd and not be drowned out in a sea of shooters.

I removed GTA from my post, I'm not even really talking about Aus sales, just in general, I posted the top 10 above.

Fallout is a massive franchise in the gaming community. Bigger than all those above besides GTA and the yearly released COD.

Fallout won't go close to COD sales.

COD does 15 million without blinking.

Fallout will go ok, but it's not getting close to the biggest seller of this year.

Also keep in mind guys for PC users, the disk's dont have the game files, I read that on reddit. So even with the disks you will still have to download some of the game, or large chunks of it.

I am going to order it on steam to allow my shitty net the 1 day it will need to download the game :p

this has really pissed me off. i bought the ****ing disk the only thing i should need is to activate the cd key which comes with the game not wait two ****ing hours for steams slow arse downloads whilst the server is plagued with VPN yanks. PSN downloads quicker than ****ing steam. **** steam and **** all its PC fanboys!

CoD will take a hit this year in Aus because of the R rating. but will still be filled with pre-pubescent kids who will throw a fit until parents break and buy them the game.

I think Fallout will be 3rd highest selling in November/holiday season with CoD and Star Wars selling more. But Fallout will have stable sales numbers for longer if the game has a good story. You will also have people hold off till the game is patched

core gamers lean towards Fallout but still be well outnumbered by DudeBros and casual gamers.

The thing Fallout has going for it is the fact it is totally an offline game. So you don't rely on playing with others to enjoy it. Unlike shooters etc, where your enjoyment is only derived from the community surrounding that game.

EB guy said they'd price match he pre order as long as they see a copy of the ad.

I called then up and got rejected. Which EB did you call? (I'm assuming you're in WA coz you follow Freo)

I can't see any difficulty based trophies? Going to bet at this stage that some of those quest based trophies might be exclusive, as in if you complete a particular quest it may lock you out of another quest (in which case I might just roll with some backed up saves). If not then the plat will be as simple as 'do everything.'
