Trying to think of well known Richmond supporters. Can anyone add to this list. I think Thorpe is a rugby boy but can we claim him?

* Paul Reiffel
* Mick Molloy
* Wayne Harmes
* Russel Crowe
* Rex Hunt

Wasn't aware of Crowe, though Molloy used to have a reserve seat just behind me at the G. But most of his time was spent in the bar.. Top Bloke!

His a mad rugby league fan but I thought I heard him mention it on the GF Footy show a few years back.

Russell Crowe was on the Footy Show either last year or the year before and spent more time shaking Richo's hand than the rest of the panel. Richo made a really dumb question about Crowe being in a sequel to Gladiator and Russell was cool about it and brushed Eddie away when Eddie tried to excuse Richo, by saying something about Richo playing for the greatest team in the league and followed it up with a "Carn the Tiges!"

Personally I don't think the once in a lifetime types whp pose with a club jumper as a photo opportunity should be counted. Actually I find it a little embarrasing when some QLDer or foreigner becomes a Richmond supporter for a day.

So Crowe, Thorpe, Flair etc don't count in my book.

i remember one time george foreman being in town and was a guest at the mcg when we were playing the eagles i think. and they interviewed him on ch 7 and he chose to barrack for the tigers that night, so there you go he is another one! :D (we actually won the game too i think!)

Crowe lived in Richmond when he first started acting in Australia (romper stomper era), so I think that is not surprising that he is a Tiger. He also hired out one of the super boxes a few years ago at a Tigers game.

I'm quite happy to count him as a Tiger.

He was actually a regular with the superbox thing.

Steve Waugh took training a couple of years back ... can we include him in there too?

Shame he doesn't live in Melbourne - he'd make a great board member.

Stuff getting him on the board, put him on the coaching panel!

Wallace and Waugh.. man what mongrels we'd be..

(Don't wake me please, Im dreaming a nice dream :D )

And isn't there a photo of John McEnroe wearing the Richmond jumper a few years ago?

You can't be serious!
He'd be just what we need to address the players at 3/4 time and get in their faces ala Barrassi in the 70's. Hate to be in the coaches box with McEnroe - he'd be throwing punches and anything he could get his hands on.
Even better - imagine Plough, McEnroe and Tony Jewell all together in the box. It'd be like throwing a sausage into a roomfull of mongrel dogs!

I'm told by a very reliable source that the Pope is a richmond supporter.
