Looks pretty good.

Not sure about the XP popping up, this isn't an RPG or anything and it's really going to break the immersion, something that Far Cry 2 absolutely excelled at (probably the most immersive game I've ever played).

Wonder if and really hope the fire tech is gonna come back, if there was one awesome thing about Far Cry 2 it was that spreading fire.

Great to see they're going to tone down the AI and not have them know exactly where you are from 100 metres away the instant you step on a stick. Hoping it doesn't mean they'll be stupid though, just hope that the game will allow for stealth when needed and full on action when needed too.

I don't believe I've played another game that defines "diamond in the rough" quite like FarCry 2. So many great idea's clashed with horrible ones in that game. I hope they don't throw away all the good idea's from FC2 and just keep refining what they had.

My reading of the announcement is that they are doing exactly that but thats just marketing so who knows.

I loved Far Cry 2, I think a lot more people would have liked it if they walked everwhere and played it as a stealth game. Super pumped for a new Far Cry!

The actual combat and weapon selection in Far Cry 2 was ace, i loved plotting my way through a sticky situation (like the compound mission), i'd charge through with the flame thrower.... create a scene having the enemy AI run out.... torching the first few, then charge in Rambo style with a machine gun.

What killed it for me was the travel time between missions.

And when you drive around you get ambushed?

Walk around, swim and you learn the land. Oh it was soooo good when I finally got out of the cars.

Hmm maybe i should play it again. :D

It got a bit boring with travelling around on foot but mostly I liked that part best. Sneaking into a enemy camp and ****en em up. Pure gold.

I loved Far Cry 1. While Far Cry 2 was a good game I found the bugs annoying and the dialogue was so fast it seemed like they were put on fast forward. Plus it seemed the enemies knew where you were too easily. Judging by the video it seems a major improvement. Should be a great game.

Never played the first Far Cry, and didn't think much of number 2 until I started playing it again recently. It's certainly like no other open world game out there. I think a lot of people aren;t fans because of its sheer size and how long it can sometimes take to get to one part of the map from the other, but thats half the challenge in it.

Its also an incredibly difficult game to play, I started the story mode on normal but had to bump it back to easy after a few missions, driving through enemy camps can be just as hazardous as completing a mission sometimes.

Once you get into the actual storyline though, despite the shoddy dialouge, its a fairly engrossing game to play. Multiplayer has its moments too.

I really enjoyed the amount I played of Far Cry 2 and I really look back on it probably more fonder than I maybe should. Often wonder why I traded it in.

I noticed you playing it the last few days and it's actually got me wanting to go out and get it again (I do have it on Steam already...). But then I realise that there'd be a bit of a grind getting through this and that, and having to constantly be bombarded again by the bounty hunters.

I honestly think Far Cry 2 was as close to a perfectly flawed game there's been this generation. There is SO much good, but SO much bad too. However the bad wouldn't be that hard to rectify, so if they can keep that good so good and fix all the bad, this could be an absolute pearler of a game and a real surprise to many I reckon.

Best thing about that vid, the AI actually lost sight of the person.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Yep that was cool. I hate games where the baddies know where you are as soon as you fire onwards.

Love that they have kept the red blips (baddies) on the mini map. Everything can be planned.

Oh and one thing I am not liking at all. The XP counter popping up after each kill, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit! Hopefully that can be turned off.

This isn't the type of game that lends itself to XP popping up like that, minimalist HUD and full immersion into the game world please.

Yeah what was up with that shit.

actually really liked the look of that :thumbsu:

i didn't really mind the +10 stuff only cause it looked like cod4 points lol

but yeh i think for a game like that you would want to be fully immersed without the points showing up.

it's on my radar now i guess

Was a massive fan of FC2, absolutely loved that game. Spent an ungodly amount of time just wandering around the landscape, testing out new weapons and doing all the normal stealthy stuff.

Cant wait for this game, hopefully they keep all the elements that made FC2 so damn good.

In hindsight, and i know this is a massive call...FC2 was probably my favourite single player FPS of this Gen. Played it through a couple of times.

Just loved the freedom, being able to do stuff 100 different ways. Didn't mind the travel aspect, hate games where you just cut from action scene to action scene. Great being able to just sit there and look at some of the work that has gone into the game world

Can't wait for 3
