I gotta say, they have sold this well. Huge array of weapons, the environment looks great, and the choice of vehicles



My only fear, like all Far Cry games, is that it becomes stale and/or repetitive like all the others and eventually becomes a slog. The trailer doesn't seem to indicate though.
 
I'm interested in the city areas, how big will the cities be, it's not something we've really had before in a far cry game.
This does look different to other FC games, but I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to the be same formula as the others.

Setting is giving me Just Cause vibes.
Made me think of Favela a lot in COD MW2.

Yep, Ubi just cram too much collectathon stuff into their games. You can try to ignore it but the amount of random battles adds so many hours to the game. If they are never going to make a more refined and tailored game, I wish they had a pre-set setting at the start like difficulty that reduced the game length and a lot of the padding.

I recon they would get a lot more sales for not that much more work, although I probably end up buying this anyway and complaining about it when it's same old Ubi.

Yeah enemies appearing out of nowhere is a fun for a bit, but when it's waves and waves (especially when trying to do a mission), it becomes a humungous chore.
 
I get that in game dev you design a loop that's supposed to keep the player engaged and in Far Cry that's shooting bad dudes, but in FC5 when I was in the middle of the ******* forest and enemies kept randomly rolling up in cars or planes just started following me ....

Those kinds of loops just do not work in sandboxes if you're at all trying to encourage the player to explore. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out but here we are, still doing it.

Far Cry 5 for $12.99 on the PS Store has caught my eye. Sale until the 19th.

At that price you’ve got to grab it. I have FC5 as my favorite of the series, with FC2 not far behind. I know I’m in a minority as so many loved FC3 & 4 but I couldn’t get into those two.

FC Primal was also very good IMO.
 
Yep Farcry Primal pretty good one of my favs underrated IMO

I used to own it on disc (last trophies popped it 2016), so decided to but it again. I couldn’t not buy it again at that price.
