Kent Kingsley rumoured by Brownless to be finished at Geelong, along with several other unnamed players.
Dead wood the club should drop, or just a bad season from Kent?

It wasn't rumoured by Brownless, he was just giving his personal opinion.

Most Geelong fans know that Kent will more than likely be given his marching orders, as his time is up and he cannot get a game anymore.

However, he has been very serviceable over his career at Geelong and he doesn't get the credit he deserves at times.

For his size and ability, he has been a good player for the Cats. At times he is maligned by just about every supporter, but didn't that also happen to Ben Graham ?? Also Lindner ?? Also Brownless at the end of his career ??

The list is endless of the forwards that we often put the daggers into. KK has been a great player for the club, I hope he gets a trade so we can get something in return.

He's out of contract as I understand it ..... therefore most likely that he will be delisted and the club won't get a cracker.

Is a proven goalkicker at AFL level and that can't be ignored. Nathan Thompson was a risk and a half when the Kangas picked him up for a first and second rounder. Had a poor year and had just announced that he was suffering from depression yet due to his previous record he was rated highly. One year doesn't make a footballer and KK has delivered more often that not up until 06, so expect his worth to be quite reasonable come trade week, especially if more than one club is keen.

Popular opinion around the office is that he'll definately get picked up but wont be worth a great deal.

Nathan not suffering from depression, it is the other Hawks reject in Johathan Hay.

Thompson had a bad injury year last year.

Nathan did actually come out and said that he was suffering from depression in his last year at the Hawks. As a result, a few clubs baulked at picking him up.

OK that’s it. This is where I draw the line at this soppy , over the top, delusional stuff on Kent. Great . Excuse me , but "Great" is a title I usually reserve for player who can kick straight and has semblance of physicality in their play.

Hey , I realise I’m a critic of him as player but to me this man at times is epitome of what I hate about modern football. The oh so clean player , the player that would in the old days , would be embarrassed about going back in the shed with his gear in a such perfect state that it would barely need a wash. But I don’t just mean mudless when I’m talking about him, he in the most reported era of football would not have any worries about missing games thru contact with opponents. Some might say this is a good thing, especially when we look at guys like Mooney acting out but really can a player continue to stand back and passively accept getting beaten on a down day. I always remember with Gary Sr. or Tony Locket, if you held them goalless for too long , it was like a red rag to a bull. It was to a dangerous thing for a backman to do because they didn’t accept it lightly. They could make things happen , make backmen look over their shoulders, make them tread lightly, make them fumble marks. They would do something to have an influence. Too often the only influence Kent had was to make head for the bar.

I see Kent as a guy who is just a waster of football opportunities, that have been granted to him , not the money his earned of course I have never said he is a dummy. I’d really like to know how much effort the guy put into trying perfect his kicking of the ball. If he didn’t practice then he is truly a wasteful and careless player and if he did practice hard and yet got no better, then he is a player deserving only of a game in the GFL or something like it.

As far as BennyG or BillyB goes to put KK in sentence as these two is like comparing Lollies and Chocolates

Yes, so farewell to Kent I wish him all the best if he does go elsewhere , I'm sure he will have good games and probably some against us, but as sure as God made little green apples if Kent is your main Target up forward then you are not building a side to win a flag.

I think the comparison between Brownless and Kent was the way they were viewed by supporters rather than ability. Brownless way ahead on that score as a tally of 441 goals would suggest.

Yep, looks his time at the GFC is up. He's certainly been an interesting case, but unfortunately for both parties he hasn't lived up to his ability. Cats fans have every right to rue his deficiencies, regardless of the fact that he's been the leading goalkicker the last few years running. Good on him for that, but the reality is that he probably could have been so much better with a little more physicality and a bit more application.
