While press articles are being quoted, here is another headline from yesterday
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/12351471/manslaughter-verdict-in-teen-death-case/
A 28-year-old man has been found guilty of manslaughter after he fatally stabbed a teenager during a confrontation with a group of youths in a suburban street.
Scott Daniel Sievers, 28, had been fighting an allegation he intended to kill or do life-threatening harm to Rowan Davis, 17, when he stabbed the unarmed teenager in the heart on January 21.
Mr Davis, the cousin of footballer Leon Davis, collapsed in front of his friends and died.
Sievers claimed he brandished a knife and meat cleaver during the Halls Head altercation in a bid to scare off the group and that he had been defending himself, his girlfriend and mother after the group hurled abuse, rocks and stubbies.
A jury today acquitted Mr Sievers of murder but convicted him of an alternative charge of manslaughter which carries no intent.
The victim’s family was composed and silent as the verdict was read.
Perhaps Leon wanted to be in WA with his family while this was going on, not at Arizona.
Thanks for all the wonderful games you played for the Pies Leon.
