Not a fan of classic movies 're-imagined' for television - Bates Motel, for instance, is quite ridiculous - and shows where some characters appear in a slightly different form among new ones (as Fargo does), but this show has enough style and atmosphere to keep me watching.

It's a pretty strong cast, although it was hard to accept Martin Freeman as the Minnesotan native Lester Nygaard (portrayed so well by William H. Macy in the movie).

Having said all that, Billy Bob's dragon speech made the episode.

they are getting better in their age, and were phenomenal to begin with. But now they have something to say.

Love all those ones too.

Dunno what to think about the series. I enjoyed it, to an extent, but kept wondering why did they make this?

I'm going to bank a couple of episodes and watch them in a block.

I'm finding Billy Bob hillarious in this. Some of these interactions are gold. I have to agree with the previous poster. Some really excellent casting decisions. Loving it! Also the ending what a way to bow out!

I am just happy to see Dennis outside Philadelphia, and hopefully he gets brutally murdered by Billy Bob too.

Really love the deaf hitman. Steve Buscemi wouldn't shut up, but this guy can't even talk. :D

Not minding this so far. Obviously a big fan of the film. When they first announced this I was really apprehensive, these conversions can usually be pretty horrible in own right and deflating the comparative original. But plenty got excited, I did too, and I haven't been let down.

I think the humour is a bit lame in places and characters can be a bit too caricature like (Hess's dumb kids, that Greek wife's son) but I am enjoying the atmosphere. Really cold and slow paced but they're doing well to try and focus the attention on the characters and what kind of people they are. And I always like character-driven stuff so I just hope they start to unfurl characters a bit more and make them that bit more interesting and dimensional – complex characters never suck.

Like the surrealism too, the way Lester killed his wife was a great little example of making the gravity of the situation disappear. It wasn't about her actually dying, she died too early on for us to be upset about it, but it started to boil who Lester and Billy Bob are.

Good show but not great so far.

I'm enjoying it much more as the story has kind of been established.

"that moment" from the first episode has me completely hooked.

and the final scene from the second episode has seen me upgrade from "must watch" to "hanging out for it".

I agree it was initially a shock, but I think he is channeling William H Macy really well the more I watch. The beyond-his-years frailness, the staccato speech, the nervous twitches. He's doing it pretty well. Billy Bob is brilliant in his role - his interaction at the Post Office was equally hilarious and unnerving. He has a polite malevolence about him.

I'm still not sold on the show as a whole yet. I'm just constantly comparing it to the movie ... and that's a pretty high bar to aim for.

Also, them saying "Yah" cracks me up every time.

Watched the first two eps on FTA tonight..Was very worried about this, then relieved and now just flat out loving it in its own right,

Sensational series, so well done, so many killer lines.

Can't remember when I have been more excited about a tv show, gold writing, the visuals that made the movie stunning and one of the most epic casts in living memory. I am also developing a guilty 'shouldn't like her but I do' crush on the police officer.
