I'm a bit shocked by this. He averaged 24 touches a game, it wasn't as if he was just a feel good story. The thing is no other club bit either so there must be clear reservations.

Then only concern can be his size IMO.

Sad for young Kellaway but at the same time stoked that our recruiting team is not swayed by the heart strings. “We don’t give away spots at Richmond” is the message

Another year, another father-son prospect goes undrafted. Only chance for Kellaway is through SSP, but what does that really say about his quality?

Annoying watching other teams scramble to match bids for their top F/S prospects while we don’t even have F/S prospects worth picking in the rookie draft.

It is what it is I guess, disappointing nevertheless

Reckon that's pretty piss poor from our club. Would prefer to give him a chance than watch Sonsie run around another year.
What have the club done that’s piss poor? I’m really sad for Louis and was excited by the prospect of having a F/S player at the club but i don’t think the club have done anything wrong.

Our messaging had been very clear the entire time that we haven’t made any promises to him.

I do hope he’s a player invited to train this preseason as a potential SSP pick.

Our messaging really is not that clear and that just sounds like a company line that gets trotted out

How is nominating a kid as father son then not selecting him in the draft and taking a pass as a rookie clear messaging
Should have just done what the Pies did with McGuane and not nominated him and dont give the kid hope

We shouldn't be in the business taking the romance in drafting father or son or not if he's good enough make him earn it with a train on spot with a couple others simple as that.

Yeah your right, I would rather we renew Sonsie
for 12 months or give Samson Ryan 3 years because we don't believe in the romance of the game.

Moreso impact IMO. 24 Kellaway disposals do not equal 24 Cummy/NDT disposals. Hes a solid, well rounded player.

Who is he going to play ahead of out of McAuliffe, Seth, Hotton, Lalor, Smillie and NRT? 🤔
Even you get it. Embarrassing for Morro 😜

Somewhat near-sighted I would say ... both Andrew and Duncan where late to physically develop .... Louis is definitely not a sexy footballer ... he is built like a rake and his handball action is awkward as I have seen but he does so much right ... his field placement and timing is impeccable .... he chooses the right option and his kicking finds it's target over and over again.

And his combine results were good with an almost sub-three-second 20-meter sprint (3.002 seconds), an agility test of 8.154 seconds, and a very respectable 2km time trial effort of 6.31. (especially when Zane Peucker ran over 7 minutes for the 2km)

While one can understand the logic in keeping a list spot open for the SSP and the rookie draft - Louie only needs a year or two in the gym and where better to have done that than at Punt Rd - so removing the romanticism associated with Father Sons my immdediate reaction is this was a short-sighted decision by the RFC especially considering his father and uncles played a combined 722 games of AFL football.

The only caveat I have is if we are still able to nominate as a Father Son in future national drafts then the drive to make the list may be more productive to Louis' development than the fear of remaining on the list next year as a rookie. I am interested to see how this one plays out.
