sounds good. its about time we got some decent father son draft picks besides waite in recent years.
Blackwell looks like a class player. He'll need some time in the twos to improve his body strength so he can stand up to the rigours of AFL football but when he's ready he'll be at worst a very good player for us.

Tomi Johnston is eligible both this year and next.

I'd suggest he has the general skills to make it (his handwork and footskills are sublime), but his size hurts him.

Carlton are best leaving him in the TAC another year.

I think that may depend on the amount of 1st / 2nd round picks we secure.
If he effectively becomes our 4th pick, I reckon your on the money.

But if Carlton secure another 2 picks in the first 2 rounds & effectively he is our 6th pick at 35 or 36, we may grab him this year as next years draft on all reports sounds to be very deep.

(Then again you hear that line almost every year. ie. not this year........next year).

The problem with that is we've got Sammy Sheldon available in 2006 so if we leave Tomi in the TAC for another year and then pick him up as a father son he'll have to be worth giving up a second round pick for. Given the lack of quality available in this years draft maybe we should just pick him up now and let him develop in the twos for a couple of years.
