Who will you use your pick/s on? I've there are three coming up in this draft but the only one i know of is Tomi Johnston. Who are the others and who will you take.

sorry if this has been discussed, did a brief search but nothing came up.

The others are Jake Williams (Son of Diesel) and Sam Sheldon (Son of Bomber).

I don't know much about any of them other than that Tommi is physically small. Mojo31 would be the guy to ask, but he's not around these days. As to whether any of them are worth a third round pick in a reputed super-draft, who knows?

I doubt we'll be using a 2nd round pick for any of them, so we'll only be taking one. At least as a F-S selection anyway.

I don't know much about tomi johnson or sami sheldon. I do know that jake williams was one of the best on ground and captain of essedon grammar school in their recent loss to St Joeseph's College Geelong in final of the Herald Sun Shield. I also heard he was one of the best on ground in the schools previous match. He also plays in the midfield for the Caulder Cannons in TAC Cup and has averaged 23 possesions in six matches this season. Apparentley he has very good skills but is a bit slow (sound familiar). He's also very small.
Here is a link to an article that was written prior to the Herald Sun Shield final. It contains a bit of information about him and also has a picture. He looks a lot like his dad.

Has anybody actually seen any of these kids play. I am particularly interested in Jake Williams. How are his skills and is he good in the middle of the packs like his dad. Lots of people are saying he is too small and slow but so was his Greg and look how he turned out. I know I probably shouldn't compare them as they are two completely different people. If he does have talent I just hope that we don't make the same mistake again by letting another williams slip through our fingers.

Sammy Sheldon is a great player, saw him play tonight in the APS vs AGVS game and played very well. I think he is best suited for the f/s pick.

Sam Sheldon is the best of the three. He will likely be asked to play another year at Under 18 level and be taken by Carlton next year.

I doubt it's a coincidence that Ken Sheldon's name has been thrown up as a possible assistant.

Tomi and Jake aren't worthy of a 3rd round pick, but the club may take Tomi.

I base that on the fact that he's had a number of medicals at the club this year, indicating they may have asked him not to nominate last year in order to take him this year.

I would think it'd be fairly safe to let him go into the regular draft, and take him at our mid 50 pick.

Sydney might offer a 3rd rounder for Jake, they've tended to take more risks in the draft recently and they may take Jake in order to have a better shot with his brother later.

...and knowing our luck he will turn out a gun like his old man.

they should be automaticaly come to the club like the one going to geelong
Swans will have to forget about him and get someone else :)
the only jumper you'd see sam in is a Navy Blue Jumper :)
if he went to sydney the Blues might do what Brisbane did to Marc Murphy and Target him

The club has apparently appointed someone to assess the three father-son prospects and make a recommendation to Wayne Hughes. No idea who it is they have following the boys around.

It is conceivable that none of them will be selected father-son. The draft is pretty deep this year and our third round picks are the lowest of anyones. But I'm sure we would look at picking one or more of them up with a later pick or rookie pick if that were the case.

Good point. It's not like we recognised Greg's talent the first time around.

I guess we'll know more after the draft camp.

And as for delaying Sheldon's nomination until 2007, why would he choose to miss out on a year's income?

Further, who's to say that the father-son rules won't be screwed up by then? It might come to third round pick this year, or first round pick next year. Personally I think the rule's fine as it is, and Rocket Eade's full of it. Of course, Adelaide fans will contest that.

Can this one at least kick? :o

Yeah they can both kick its just that it has to be from within 35.

(Or when he on his knees in an impossibly tight angle with a bloke lying on top of him :thumbsu: )

Young Nathan Waite played in the Under 16's championships this year. I am trying to get it confirmed that it is for sure a brother, but he's from the exact same area.
