have a date thursday night taking this girl i met last weekend to an indian place i go to, its 30 mins drive from my house i go there a lot so much so that i am on first name basis with the owners. the place is a total dive with pink walls crappy tables and their two sons running riot annoying the customers but the food is sensational and the owners are the nicest people.

got me thinking.........what restaurants do you frequent?

Tandoori Den in Camberwell or Chois in Hawthorn.

I don't eat in at the Tandoori Den much but get takeaway from there atleast once a month for the past few years. Chois seems to be the restaurant of choice for birthdays and celebratory meals, really good food for a reasonable price

Subscribed. I don't know enough quality cheap restaurants in Melbourne.

I quite like Mamasita in the city. It's good if you're taking a vegetarian out.

^ Quan 88 on Victoria St - trust me Ive tried every single restaurant on the strip over the past decade and Quan 88 is the best.

Top Melbourne Restaurants on Facebook is good for this kind of thing.

To any who likes dining out, I cannot recommend enough to go out and get a copy of the Entertainment Book.

Has discounts (25% off or buy one main course get one main course free) on restaurants all over Melbourne. :thumbsu::thumbsu:
I endorse this post.

They're exceptionally good value. You only have to eat out a couple of times a year in order to get your money back.

Absolutely. Plus good discounts on accomodation and other activities as well.

Yeah $65 for the book is really good value. :thumbsu:

Universal Cafe on lygon, definetly my fave along that strip

Like that place too! Just havent been there in years, lol.

If anyone lives on the Northern Beaches in Sydney, "Out Of Africa" their food is just amazing, not cheap, not expensive, great value, good stuff.

The best restaurants in London are the Aberdeen Angus steakhouses, nothing like going to the most touristy spots in London and paying £40 for a piece of 8 year old bison that has been lovingly microwaved to a perfect grey then eased onto a plate where some 16yo kitchenhand has glazed it with manjuice before bringing it out to you in the dining room where every other person is wearing a Denver Broncos warmup jacket and asking for more "ice water" and complaining that they went to Buckingham Palace and they weren't even invited in to have crumpets with the Queen.

I can vouch for Don Too on Little Lonsdale. Lightning fast, cheap and tasty. I eat there twice a week and never tire of it.

The Rose is a hidden gem and a favourite amongst my friends and I. Cosy, cheap and a footy pub of sorts.

Good recommendations Nicky!

Thaila Thai on Lygon St in Brunswick West. Cheap, food tastes great and very generous servings. Sit upstairs if you go their for a birthday or a night out. Service is a weakness though.

Thanks, don don is probably the best bang for your buck i've come across. I have been going there for nearly a decade.

As for the rose, well, i enjoy watching the footy there and the meals are excellent value for money.

Dining out isn't all about money but good cheap places do rate highly for me.

don't wanna hi jack this thread (lol actually i dont really give a shit if i do :P ) but cheap places in the CBD for lunch/coffee?

any would be appreciated, sick of paying $11 for 2 slices of toast and coffee.......

If on the Gold Coast and you like Beef, then you cant go past Moo Moo in Broadbeach on the Park.

I usedto work there and I hate the ****ing place, their management heirachy is a ****ing joke and the people who run it think of their staff as slaves in circa 1890 Missisippi, but their meat is off the ****ing charts.

Go the 1 kilo angus rump roast with assorted Jus, Sauces and Sides. ill cost you $120.00 but is worth more.

**** em, I hate em, but I love the food... turned a near vegetarian into a lover of red, dripping blood, juicy meat..., growl :p
