Bah.

How could the player you consider the best or most influential not be your favourite player?

Easy.... take my personal thoughts on Roo - thought he was an AWESOME player, certainly influential and one of our best - my second ranked all time best for the Crows, but he will never be my favourite.

Rehn/Pittman: best combination we have ever had?
Definitely. Both mountains of blokes and whilst Rehn was clearly the superior player Pittman more than held his own against the other leading ruckmen in the AFL.

My favourite thing about Pitto though was that he was just about the first player ever to develop a goal kicking routine... complete with pacing out a run up, removing the glove at the right time, marking a spot on the ground... all for the two shots at goal he had each season!

Did thread a nice one in Q2 of the 1998 grand final when we were absolutely BLOWING on all cylinders.

Nice. Totally stupid, but the first bit of AFL memorabilia (read: commercial shite) I ever bought was a Crows dash-board figure. Not thin enough to be Rehn, so I called it Pitto - until Bickley showed me what a real football hero should be Pitto was OK. Even when he went to Port I forgave him.

Just...

Be interesting if we could do preferential voting. I have a feeling that Modra might overtake Roo.

God there's a few. Roo, Modra, D. Jarman but I voted for McLeod. At his peak he was the best player in the game. If we won one more game in 2001 he probably would have won the brownlow medal.

McLeod and Jarman came up huge for the club in the 1997 and 1998 finals after Modra injured his knee during the 1997 2nd prelim and needed a full reconstruction and missed most of 1998. But I also think the club had a massive self belief in Finals back then as well, with Modra gone the team gained a huge amount of self belief and came back and won the game with sheer guts despite wasting many opportunities in front of goal. They played unselfish footy and were great to watch. Macca was the reason, his skills and ball usage were critical in those Finals.

He is also known for a few dramatic match winning goals. Especially his dribbling left foot boundryline goal that helped us beat Collingwood early in 2005. Got the biggest monkey off our backs.

Mark Riccuito - Might be some what of a random game for some but Round 4 2001 really stands out. It was the wettest day i have seen at the footy personally and we were 0-3. Riccuito was very quiet until the last half when he somehow stepped up and somehow managed to kick four goals. His will to win and strength just stood out. It was one of the most exciting games and we managed to win by nine poiints.

I remember that game very clearly aswell, I remember him single handedly won the game for us.

I believe it was against Carlton (when they were a good side) and it was at OPTUS oval and it was the shittiest day to play footy. I remember despite the weather, roo kicking 2 goals outside 50, in that weather those goals stand out to this very day, kinda like Shrley's 2 goals in 08 which he kicked from 50 that basically won us the game.

Easy for me The simple reason why I barrack for the crows, I live in Victoria, is because of Tony Modra. When I was a little bloke the crows were regualary on TV live on a Sunday and I loved watching Modra.
