British India are one of the best up and coming bands around.

Most would have heard them on Triple J if they listen to the station.

Have heard them live, and have both the albums.

Fantastic band.

Fair List of Indie Bands that I have. Have heard of some other good ones, haven't got round to getting them though. Every 2nd band coming out of the UK is Indie ATM, well atleast it was, seems to have slown down abit now.

Does 'Indie' mean those not signed to a major label?

What is considered to be 'Alternative' especially in that part at JB Hi Fi would have been mainstream in the 1980s.

Most of the bands who are played commercially but plug themselves as Indie are not True Indies, their labels are owned by the bigger boys.

agreed. his show at the state theatre in sydney earlier this year was sublime. i cried at the end of the first song. im ashamed of that, but i did.

Great, great band. Dreaming of You is indeed a great song and the debut album is a great one. Bad Man and Time Travel (The hidden track) are my favourites off the debut.

The Invisible Invasion and Magic and Medicine are both great as well. Yet to get Roots & Echoes though.


Also, Anyone else know a band called Yeti? Great band as well. Contains the (former) bassist from The Libertines. There are much better then Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things...

I think Hard Fi are fairly independent. Their first album which was pure gold cost them a couple of grand to make out of their own living room IIRC, top effort...Although they have aspirations to be incredibly mainstream and whatnot
