50's = it was all born, cash, holly, berry
60's = rock and roll
70's hard rock/disco
80's = metal/commercial rock
90's = grunge/soft rock
00's = ********

60's was the best in my opinion, all the best bands coming out, hendrix, who, yardbrids, beatles

60s, closely followed by the 70s, closely followed by no decade really. 50s might have started it up, but I don't like much music from that decade.

80s = poo (except for the occasional band e.g. Queen)
90s = poo
00s = an unbeaten poo

80s although there was a bit too much heartbreak theme going around

I like the 00's ...not mushy at all just all about getting down and dirty

All deps what you know from a particular decade. But for music overall that an era has been defined by, this is what I say:

1. 90s - some cheesy pop in the early-mid 90s, but some great rock bands like Oasis, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden etc were in their prime. Rap was still decent. Good decade.
2. 60s - Music evolved in the early part and we saw more innovation through bands like the Beatles, the Who which saw some great tunes and more album oriented stuff.
3. 80s - plenty of cheesy synths which most music was based on. That said, still some great pop tunes came out of it such as Crowded House, the Police. the early 80s saw some good post-punk as well as new wave like Blondie, U2.
4. 70s - Picked up where the 60s left off. Later in the decade plenty of rock bands even tried their hand at disco, but overall not as good a decade as others.
5. 50s - haven't listened to much of it but there were plenty of short songs and rock was still in its infant stage. Chuck Berry, Elvis came out of this era though.
6. 00s - typified by a lot of R&B and crap. Poorest decade so far.

All good except for the 90's when Boy Bands and Power Divas took over. This decade the worst by a mile.

80's for sure, about 90% of my fave bands were 80's bands :thumbsu:

Every era cept for the 00's has had great qualities about it.

The OP sums it up for me just about perfectly.

I personally loved the 80's most because bands like Slayer, Metallica and Iron Maiden dominating, Gun N Roses too.

70s comfortably for me.

Stones prime
Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
AC/DC prime
Clapton
Queen
Bowie

Not just a lot of bands in their prime but the whole 70s sounds were better than other eras. Disco was a bit dodgy but not as bad as 80s synth).

The 80s sucked. Some really good bands (talking Heads, Police etc) but the whole 80s sound really sucked di ck.

And it's pretty much same with fashion too. 70s > 80s.

Don't have a favourite decade. My music tastes essentially start in around 1968-9, when Rush/Sabbath/Zep/Purple formed, and Cream/Hendrix were going strong, and I have many albums from then until 2006 that I love and listen to regularly.....
