Good article - thanks for the link. :thumbsu:

No time at all for Fergus. Any player that goes home as quickly as he did after saying how delighted he was to be drafted by Adelaide at the time of being drafted doesn't rate at all with me.

He then compounded it by limiting the ability to trade him to one club, which obviously limited Adelaide's ability to run up his trade value.

It is interesting that he went home in spite of his dad's advice - that only makes him a bigger loser in my eyes.

I certainly wouldn't wish injury on him or any other player. Having said, that my last thoughts on Watts are this - Karma.

Good article about Fergus Watts in The Age:

Sorry about the huge link!
Puts a few things in perspective, especially the position of his dad.
I like the fact that when asked who he would be barracking for today he answered..."The Saints...probably."

thanks for that

against the advice of his dad! certainly shows us internet bloggers know SFU hey...

ps i noticed another article in the age this morning talking about the crows wanting the cats prisnall last year but being told he is a 'no go zone'. it now seems 3-4 other clubs, along with the crows still, are after him again

Good article.

I have to admit it, I felt sorry for the lad at the time. He just wanted to move home, FFS.

Lets give Fergus the send off he deserves. A huge win for us. :thumbsu:. Funny that he states he went out of vogue, you have to be in it before you go out of it.

We also paid a very high 'market value' for that as well.

I presume you're mainly refering to D Jarman?

To be fair, St Kilda did a pretty good deal with us. We got back a late first round draft pick, which was what we gave up to start with. Fergus hadn't proved anything yet.

Of course, the fact that we wasted that draft pick is another story.

Comes from a filthy rich family, and as a result is a spoilt brat who thinks he can get what he wants. Hopefully his career-ending injury is his wake up call that you can't ALWAYS get what you want.

He was in the St.Kilda guard of honor before the match as the Saints ran onto the ground. Caught him having a look at the Crows when they ran out ;)

Edit: Oh right, says that in the article..

amazing how so many otherwise reasonable people can be so small minded on such a basic thing.

The famous incident where his favourite footballing moment was listed in the St. Kilda yearbook as '05 Qualifying Final' might have something to do with it.

"Watts senior tried to persuade his son to remain with the Crows and still reportedly bristles at allegations that it was nepotism that took him to the club."

"Other clubs were prepared to offer high picks, but Watts and the Saints chose each other, and he was out of contract, so the Crows had no choice but to trade him."

BTW, who the **** do they thing they're fooling?

Still don't believe homesickness exists to the extent the media portrays except in extreme circumstances such as Scott Welsh.

In reality, is there any sport in the world where players sook so much for having to move only a few hundred kilometers within the same country where they can fly back every few weeks?

Look at Soccer players going to the otherside of the world, NBA players to the other side of the United States, Tennis and Golf Players who are consistantly travelling yet in none of these sports in the whining about homesickness so predominant.
