I just heard from my mate that Fev has just put pen paper.
3 years 2.1 mil.........

800 in 2009
700 in 2010
600 in 2011

We'll wait and see if he's correct, he's normally spot on.

since we're on the topic of repetitive threads...
you've managed to do two in one here: 1. Fevola has signed 2. "I heard it from a source/friend" etc

congrats...

Heard it too from "Brizzy Blue". Exact same thing, exact same financial breakdown. Brizzy's extremely reliable and obviously has "inside" connections. So unless your mate is "BB" that's a second source saying the same thing.

You forgot the bad behaviour clause

Posted this in another thread.. but

Just heard from a lady at work that she saw him and he was going in for an MRI at the epworth. (yesterday morning or this morning cant remember which she said) but to me that would sound like something the club would ask he have done before finalising a new deal.

Also she was there with her husband who has cancer so I doubt she was bullshittng me.

...wow, if that's the case it must be true! Credibility here is soaring!

can we be done with the "Fev Deal Done" threads untill it actually happens. We know its going to happen, so i dont think that there can be any credibility given here when it does happen.

Why would we pay him more next year than the other years when if we were payimg $800k in only half would go in the cap as he can be veteran listed.. Another BS post !!!! The deal will be strucutred up the other way i.e backloaded not front loaded...........

Shangalang from all reports that was a key to getting the deal done, greater payment up front, which could work out to be better for us as in 3 years time, when Gibbs, Murphy, Kreuzer command higher pay packets, our cap isnt being lown out of the roof, yes although Fev's contract payment will be halved.

I understand that Fev wants it done as outlined by Juddy08. Ideally it would be done in reverse so we could benefit from him going onto the Veterans list, but I suspect we have sufficient room in the cap to front load his contract & give us plenty of room to move when Murphy & Gibbs, among others, are next out of contract at the end of 2010.

Not necessarily at all.

The benefits of frontloading with our list in 3 years time is great - we will have Murphy, Gibbs and others taking big cashflows from 3 years onwards. All they are saying is we have space in 2009 so lets pay Fev as much as we can in that period, and make it cheaper in 2011. It weakens the Vet benefit of Fevola at the time but the benefit of frontloading is probably greater, and more pressing.

Judging how fev has worked and used the media recently i will bet my bottom dollar that this even if done wont be announced until the Footy Show on Thursday as an "exclusive" where he will probably pocket a nice extra fee.

Fev earns $90,000 to be on the Footy Show X amount of times a year. An exclusive doesnt give him more money :thumbsu:

Still backloading is better sense... 50% of 800 is 400, 50% of 600 is 300...

so in his final year that is only 100K difference in our cap... would be smarter for the club to try to entice a good KPP player next year with the extra money.

We don't get more benefit from it being done in reverse at all. Half of 800k is still more against the salary cap than half of 600K

I agree.

Brown would be nice wouldn't he?

i Just Got A Call From A Usually Reliable Source That Fev Has Indeed Put Pen To Paper In The Last Hour Or So.

I'm Told It Is 3 Years With An Option. 2.1 Mill Front-loaded. My Friends Info Indicates That It Is 2009: 800, 2010: 700 & 2011: 600.

We Will See Shortly I Guess. ;)

*** Cough*** :p

Goes on the average anyway from what I gather. So it might be half of $700,000 anyway, if reports are right of course.

We do get more benefit if it's front loaded. Get the big payments (Judd and Fev) out of the way when the young guns are still young and the salary cap is low. Besides, Greg Swann was quoted as saying Fev requested a front-loade contract in the H-Sun late last week.

Yes, but in 2009 most of our young guns will still be on relatively small contracts so there should still be plenty of room the cap. In 2011 on the other hand, cap space will be much tighter.

This could well mean that the extra $200K in 2009 ($800K as opposed to $600K) could be easier to fit into the cap than an extra $100K in 2011 ($800K:half in cap=$400K as opposed to $600K:half in cap=$300K).

Apparently the term and total value have all been agreed and the only matter still in negotiation is the extent to which it will be frontloaded.

The caps like 8.6mill atm right and in 2011 be 11.2mill or something we wil lhave more room to sign gibbsa 10mill over 5 years :p
