And I know it's Jurentus but must he wear that strip?
I thought the same ____en thing.

So Fev has puffed his chest out, largely because of behavioral orientated clauses. Time for Swanny to put him in his place ;)

this is all a media spin...... fev would thanking his lucky stars carlton didnt sack him and are willing to offer him a three year deal, he is lucky to get that, and i doubt any other club would risk three years with him without some king of clause

I know it's all about the money but fair dinkum, what a ____ing liberty. The bloke is lucky to still have a job and he's trying to stare us down over a contract issue. Interesting it now seems nothing like the amount of money first mentioned. And good to hear Ratts talking about tackling and putting such a strong emphasis on it.

Were all missing the most important point...$500K a year sounds a bit more realistic. So that saves $300K on what was reported...add in Ackland's $300K...all of a sudden we have a bit of spending money to play with!

I know it's more than likely media spin but this is one point that the club should retain as non-negotiable.

My view is that if he behaves in an appropriate manner then he has nothing to worry about....if not then maybe we should start looking at our options

dont forget they will probably back end it, as he will come into veteran status probably in his 3rd year, therefore blues only need to include 50% of his wage into the salary cap

so definately a lot to play with!!

That back-ending would make the behaviour clause a problem for him. No point getting the bulk of your fabulous contract in your last year if you can be sacked in your second.

Both sides seem reasonable. They'll sort it out.

It is just the tennis of negotiations. Fev is not even the one pulling the punches. Just an agent trying to get the best deal and safest pay cheque for himself and his client

This seriously is the media at its best.

Even Fev at his dumbest (and he has his brain melts) would not be arguing a behaviour clause. He is between representation and its all up in the air. Pratt has said 3 years, Swann agrees, Ratten will not let him go either. I predict he will get a 3 years deal, he will be on around 500,000 a year and the contract will definately have behaviour clauses in it.

Its just going to take a few weeks to get it sorted and in the meantime Caro, Smith and Sheahan will do their best to read anything and everything into it and spin it anyway they like.

I mean ____ it took my over a month to negotiate my new contract at work and I wish it was 500,000 a year.

This is a very good point AD. We see back-ending his contract as a positive for the salary cap, but he may see it as an issue

Fev's a bloody idiot if he reckons no other club would impose the same based on his idot w***er drinking history. I mean he constantly gets sprung doing stupid things when pissed, what does he expect?

I am a huge fan of Brendan, and I know that most of these contract negotiations are all media spins. But if any of it is true, I think Carlton should hold their ground and not succumb to what Fevola wants. He will find that nearly every club will offer basically the same clause.

Barely worth a discussion as the media will be used to push one sides claim etc, so the truth is rarely reported.......BUT:

According to Hutchy on TFS (......I know) Fev only just signed on with his new management group yesterday.

So how was it reported that he knocked back an offer made on Wednesday.

I don't think so.

Just an aisde.......i reckon the new GC team would part with 2 top 5 picks possible including number 1 for Fev. He'd love the GC.............just a thought.

"Behaviour" is already part of the standard player contracts where it talks about "bringing the game into disrepute" however perhaps Carlton wishes to make it more succinct be referring to specific types of behaviour. - e.g. alcohol consumption.

People bring sanctions upon themselves by their actions ...... and as a non-Carlton person .... my view is that the club has really done an enormous amount for Fevola ...... he needs to repay their support (which he appears to be doing) but should not expect any favours for the future.
