If we could get Fevola at the end of this year:

a) would we be interested ?
b) what would he be worth at the trading table and ongoing salary ?

I'm not discrediting Hansen, who is doing great things and improving each game or Smith, who would have taken our percentage closer to 200% for the season to date had he not injured himself :), Doogs or any of the other forward prospects.

I'm just thinking that Fevola seems to know Woosha quite well and he is out of contract at the end of this year. Thoughts ?

Read in the Mx paper a couple weeks ago that west coast are after fevola but den again u cant believe wat u read all the time. Though the Eagles would b stupid not to sort his services in my opinion anyfin to stop butterfingers at full forward

carlton will rightly ask the world for him.

i dont know what hes worth, probably one of our top line midfielders and up and coming talls, like kerr and hansen, both 21-22, they will get 250 top games out of those two. but honestly i wouldnt be happy seeing those guys go....would they take braun and hansen? yeah i didnt think so

but then again under the right tutelage he could be a champ....

leave it up to woosha, he'll do the right thing

Put a quality FF in front of our midfield and you can pretty much book us a grand final appearance and give them a coleman.

Tough to see it happening though- star quality players rarely change clubs, and when they do, the cost is prohibitive. If he wanted to go to us, we'd be talking Kerr + high 1st rounder, which we'd probably have to on-trade to get.

I'm very skeptical about ever getting value for money when you trade for established, star quality kpps- clubs don't give up someone who is going to leave a gaping hole in their structure, not unless you are paying way over the odds or the player flat-out demands it.

If you want gun kpps, you have to grow your own. If we had doubts over the quality of our young prospects and felt the need to shore them up during trade week, the best you can do with trading is try and net a young, moderately promising kpp prospect (ie, Hentschel, Brennan, Polak) rather than someone who has already arrived. The cost of a gun is absolutely prohibitive.

I can tell you we had a good crack at him last time he came out of contract. Woosh rates him highly.

Yeah, I do remember. But at the moment he's being inconsistent, probably mainly because he can't string any games together because of constant injuries. But is that ever gonna change?

Gardiner's pulled a hammy (classic injury for someone coming back from a knee injury) and hyper extended his good knee after it got caught under a pack (sheer bad luck, could happen to anyone). That's not exactly constant injuries just yet.

Players typically have a string of niggles after coming back from a year out of footy- its not necessarily a case of being injury prone, its just that a year away from the game destroys a lot of match hardness which simply can't be replaced any other way than playing lots of football.

I wouldn't rule out trading Gardiner, but I'd also be very hesitant to move him on the year after a knee reco, because it is very likely he'll improve, and his value at present would be at the lowest it will ever be- for example, contrast Darren Gaspar's form last year in his season back from the knee (dud of the first order, any club willing to part with a 2nd rounder could have had him), with his pretty impressive form so far this year.

Gardiner's still got at least 5 years of footy in front of him, and it would be very surprising if he doesn't get back to his best. Admittedly, the whiff of off-field misdemeanours means I'd think long and hard if he could be traded for a gun FF, but that's a wait and see item for the end of this year.

Lynch. never would of thought it would have been dat hard to guess

If someone had their thinking caps on, you would chase Keplar Bradley. Young key position defender. Very capable CHB. Western Australian. Essendon need a midfielder. Kerr for Keplar, Barbituates for Bradley :p

Humm, Green, Beeck + 2nd rd pick for Fevola

We all know 3 crap players are better than 1 good one, and we're throwing in a sweetener with that draft pick...

Stupid statement? Yeah, so is any statement in regards to trading players at this time of the year (its freakin May!!!).
