Coming into Carlton’s final game for 2008 Fev needs to kick 8 goals to get to 100 for the season. With Buddy on 98 at the other end of the ground it's going to be about as exciting as it gets.
8 goals is a big bag, but under these conditions, if anyone can do it, Fev can! Why? Because Fev kicks so many big bags!
So here’s a closer look at Fev's big bags (6+goals) over his career. Obviously the fact that he has kicked more goals this season would suggest that he has kicked more big bags this season too, but it is not necessarily the case (he had more big bags in his 66 goal season in 2004 than in his 84 goal season in 2007).

Interestingly, a third of Fev's big bags have been this year! And before this year, Fev had never kicked more than one BO8 or more than one BO7 in a single season, and yet he's already kicked 3 BO7 and 2 BO8 this year. So far augurs very well for a 3rd BO8.
On the other side of the coin, Fev's 3 BO7 and 2 BO8 this year have all been kicked at the G, while his 2 BO6 were at the Dome. We all know Fev loves the space at the G for kicking his big bags: 4 of his 5 career BO7 were kicked at the G (the 5th was against Adelaide at AAMI) and 4 of his 6 career BO8 were kicked at the G, the other 2 were kicked at the Dome.
The last time Fev kicked a BO8 at the Dome was against Richmond in 2004. Could it be just a co-incidence that 2004 is also the last time we went one win from one game against Hawthorn in a season? That game was also at the Dome (Fev kicked 6 to earn himself 3 Brownlow votes).
Results from season 2004 'The False Dawn' are eerily similar to our results so far this season. We finished 2003 at 15th on the ladder with 4 wins and improved to finish 2004 at 11th with 10 wins. We also finished 2007 at 15th with 4 wins and have so far improved also to 11th on the ladder with 10 wins but this year we still have another game to play.
CFC is vastly improved across the board since 2004 and this is the week to prove it, against a highly favoured opponent.
Fev is in career best form and kicking more big bags than ever, his delivery is as sharp as it's ever been (and still getting better) and with Big Cam and The Kreuze Missile looming as dangerous forward targets we won't allow them to have 3 or 4 players to molest him in every marking contest.
If Buddy kicks his 100 Hawthorn will lose focus just like St Kilda did when Gherig kicked his 100th against Port, that's when we'll jump them and feed Fev lace out! We'll win. Fev will kick his 100 and we'll have 11 wins for the season, one better than we had for 2004.

I dont think fev will get 8 goals, it's just too much to ask for from anyone. Hawks will drop 2 men back on him, Fev'll get crabby coz he's not getting goals, and we'll all get on here on the Monday whinging about it.
