Strongest team since we beat Carlton?
Cunners was pushed out back then
Sounds about right, in Cunnington, out Adams compared to then.

Hypothetically, who would Adams push out now? Anthony/McMillan/Harper/Campbell likely candidates I suppose.

I'd say Campbell. As Adams is a great good crumber and can spend periods in the midfield. Probably second to Swallow at extracting the pill

Jmac or Harper. Harps has shown he's no good as the sub.

Cruize Garlett, Luke Delaney and Aaron Mullett are the unlucky players to make way and will be on standby as emergencies.

Backs S.McMahon 42 N.Grima 17 M.Firrito 11
Half Backs S.Atley 18 S.Thompson 16 J.MacMillan 34
Centreline S.Gibson 43 D.Wells 8 L.Anthony 4
Half Forwards B.Cunnington 10 R.Tarrant 25 L.Thomas 12
Forwards B.Harvey 29 D.Petrie 20 L.Hansen 6
Followers T.Goldstein 22 A.Swallow 9 J.Ziebell 7
Interchange R.Bastinac 3 S.Wright 19 K.Harper 23 M.Campbell 33
Emergencies L.Delaney 15 C.Garlett 32 A.Mullett 41

In: D.Wells , N.Grima , S.Wright
Out: L.Delaney (Omitted) , C.Garlett (Omitted) , A.Mullett (Omitted)
Magnificent ins.NM will get no respect which will make the sh-t sandwich they give to WCE even less palatable.

It's our strongest team on paper. Performance wise, though, it remains to be seen how Wells comes up after being out for as long as he was. Same for Grima. I'm also worried about Goldy, as most of us are. Still, we haven't been winning the clearances much all season yet have a winning record overall, so I'm less worried about that.

If Grima is fully fit, our backline is much stronger with him there. We were at our best when he was playing.

What I'd like to see is Goldy pushing back into defence from the centre bounce to cover the resting ruckman, with Firrito moving upfield to take the onball ruckman if required. I know Goldy is not a defender, but we don't have the height to cover NicNat or Cox if he doesn't drop back. Petrie or Lachie rucks for throw-ins and ball ups in the forward line.

It's been said many times already, but we need Jack to step up. If he, Swallow and Cunnington have big games, we're a huge chance. Reckon we can win the goals from I50 count with that forward line.

I remember Delaney couldn't go with Cox aerobically last time when he was down forward and doesn't have as good a spoiling ability as Grima. If we get the ball to ground level, we should be able to run it out of defence.
No excuses, we almost have our best team, bar Leigh Adams missing. C'mon sunday, hurry up.

I really like the look of the team.

I reckon if we'd had this backline in Hobart we would have got home. From memory Hunter S was out.

Goldy has never been very good at pushing back and covering the resting ruck, his defensive game is sh1te. He needs to be dangerous going forward, clunk some big pack marks and kicking 2 or 3 goals himself.

Grima ---> resting ruck
Hunter ---> Darling
Spud ---> Lynch
Sammy W ---> Embley

* All assuming H2B is right and Kennedy doesn't play.

Kicked 4 goals as the sub last week. Just sayin'...
Im talking when Bon makes the sub.. and its usuall in the 3rd or at 3 quarter time..
the sub was made early last week because of Lachy and it does take Harps a while to get into games..
4 goals against GWS isnt exactly super sub stuff

Pretty solid post.

Just to extapolalte, if Goldy is shit, then we are in a world of hurt.

In that event, I'd have Drew move into the Ruck, Goldie gets a rest & drag whoever of Lachie or Taz is least effective and load up with a small foward line which should throw out Wooshas plans of combating a three pronged tall attack.

Guess work I know, but that's what i would be doing.

Went off the ground last week with an ankle. Didn't come back on and hasn't recovered.

It's the reason Lynch has come back in to the side.
He actually came back on for the last few minutes of the game. Woosha had said the only reason lynch was dropped was due to the night games and slippery conditions. We used the land of the giants approach to great effect last year. So don't assume just because lynch is in that Kennedy is out. He may be a late change but it is also highly likely we are just going back to a tall set up.

I bloody hope you're wrong, for our sake.

I whole heartedly agree......Taz. I think Harper was put on as a sub cause he's showing a need for a rest, and double up on Campbell's fitness (need for a decent run). Campbell as sub Harps on the deck straight up.
A fit and fresh flash coming on when its dry and hot. If we are close enough hell win us the match.

Cunnington has been huge of late. Would do anything to have Adams in the lineup as well, but Cunnington is starting to seriously impose himself. Should have been talked up a lot more in the media over the past month.

Dont worry when he gets rubbed out for 4 weeks for doing nothing wrong then the media will see him as a superstar and interview his dad before games. just like our jack

Lynch is more of a risk in the air.

Darling also gets on his bike more than Lynch so I would go with Spud on Darling and Thommo on Lynch. I prefer to keep Thommo closer to the goal mouth.
