I must say I was very impressed with Melbourne yesterday and it was certainly worth the effort in going. I know we only beat the bottom side, but for the most part, we played really well. The run out of the half back line was terrific.
The 2nd quarter was sensational. I have not seen Melbourne play a quarter like that for quite a while.
I am now prepared to say Neitz should play up forward:eek: I have always said he is better up back, and I still think he is a good backman. But his current form suggests the right decision has been made. What an effort, 9 goals. Coleman medalist, here we come!
The only bad thing about the game was that we let them kick the last three goals. It could have been a 10 goal win.
Other postives were Vardy and Robbo up forward. Sorry Ox, but they don't seem to be missing you. The delivery from the midfield was superb and the backline was very good again. I have always liked Chris Lamb and he is delivering the goods. One of the highlights of the day was when he kicked that goal. Ellis and Bizzell have been very good pick ups for the backline.
I have also been critical of the coach, but I have to give him credit. He has got the team firing the last few weeks. Lets hope it goes on!

Looking ahead, we are half a chance to make the Top 4. They are starting to look like the 2000 and 1998 team, which means on our day we can challenge most teams. We also have to beat teams around us. We can go 2 games ahead of the Hawks if we beat them. If not, we are back in the pack. 5th at the moment, lets hope we stay there.

It also makes me wonder how players like Godfrey and A McDonald and even Steve Febey are going to force there way into the team. Williams did not do a great deal yesterday, but I don't know if Broady exacty set the world on fire for Sandy.

Armstrong, Broady and Breese were the best in the ressies, look for one of them to come up this week, most likely Armstrong.

I like the look of our chances of a top 4 spot, as we are showing those signs that took us places in 1998 and 2000, like Andrew said, but I don't want to get to carried away just yet. Long way to go, and we all know just how we can play sometimes.

I think the real test is this week against the Hawks. If we beat them, that real belief of a finals spot will be there for me. I think we need to prove ourselves once more to be genuine contendors.

And remember - out of the Top 4 sides, we have beaten three!

Reckon we'll need at least 3 more wins to make the 8, starting with this Saturday vs a fired up Hawthorn.

Long way to go yet!

so you're saying you think we'll lose 4 games in the next 7 weeks?? i dont think so...

id say we could get over the hawks for sure, and leaves us with only NEEDING (but wanting more) than 2 more wins. we can do it for sure!

and im glad to see breese was among the top 3 :D

also at training today... neither macca or febes trained with the senior team... they were both there, but training with the younger guys who play with sandy atm. doesnt look like they'll be back with the seniors any time too soon...

He meant that all we need is 3 more wins to get in, not that we will only win 3 from now on Mish! :D

well, i updated my predicted ladder thingy, and alotho it may have some bias (Carlton finishing 14th WITH 2 drafter picks) you guys, i was surprised to find, made the finals EASILY and were somewhere between 3rd and 5th... so lets hope my prediction comes true :D especially coz essendon miss out on the finals by ONE game... mwa ha ha

Dees01

It was a good win, but one week at a time, pleassssssse;)

Anyway, there's only 2 Storm games left at home, Dees01 and none clash with the Demons games.....the next big one is about 3 weeks time against the Broncos at O Park at 3.00 p.m.

Do you or anyone else want to come along....let me know...
Big Poppa Pump will probably be there.......along with 2 ofd my friends, who are also Melb FC supporters..

Should be a good game and we have fun in the social club after the game.

Let me know.:D

If those 2 draft picks you talk about are the priority picks and **** or something like that, then you are REALLY biased as you cannot finish 14th and still get them.

If you finish 14th, you will get about pick 3-4 and about 19-20 in first two rounds.

Or, you can have the wooden spoon. Either way, it doesn't help the club in the near future anyway. Cartlon = Easy beats! :D
