I find it interesting that Ten only a few weeks back were more than happy to show live matches and even questioned Seven's reasoning for refusing to do so...

One good thing about the rights since Seven lost exclusive rights to it after 2001... all finals are shown in full on FTA.

Not that I care really, but will Seven's coverage of the Sydney game on Sunday be delayed also into Melbourne? That's poor if true.

It would be nice to see 7 perhaps chuck the footy live on 72 (for those of us with digital boxes - which is basically everyone right?) and delayed on 7.

And I know they probably do the ratings for BHG vs the footy on a national basis, but i'd wager that a live telecast into Melbourne of a final between two Vic teams would rape the ratings Better Homes and Gardens would get.

Pretty sure that you will but that it hasn't been finalised yet. It is not showing up in the Sydney schedule either at the moment.

half an hour is no big deal, but traditionally in certain states, the delay can be 3 or more hours

The current TV listings have the game starting at 7:30 on seven, but the game actually starts at 7:15 SA time, so it appears that it is not live.

What happened to people setting up live streams of games? There use to be heaps around and now I haven't seen any for months.

I know that justin.tv wants to comply with Australian law but surely there are some streaming websites out there with servers in far flung places where Australian courts have no jurisdiction. Surely.

Anyone here in Australia successfully tapped into legally AFL approved streams via proxy's or something? I think I might need to spend some time finding out how to circumvent those geo block things they put on those streams.

you'd think that because a live game would attract higher ratings the networks could demand a higher price per advertisement...

Once again the supporters have been shafted and the AFL/TV networks have screwed it up. Australian Sports coverage is just so far behind. To play a pre-recorded show in place of a live high rating sports event is just really poor broadcasting. We can only hope it is all fixed up in the next TV deal but I dont trust them.

These delays really ruin it for me.
