I'm tipping the Blues by 1 point (Robinson to punch the ball through the right set of goals this time!)
I'm pretty sure that would still be a free-kick to the oppo.

Free is for knocking it over the line on the full from a ball-up or throw-in (just like you can't knock it over the boundary on the full), not for deliberate rushed behind.

I Fancy our chances against Sydney tbh, but your mob will beat us in Subi if we get there. we would never leave the ground alive if for 0.01% we pulled an upset against Freo. I reckon a movie "Hotel Subiaco" would be a top box office hit in 2017 if we try to rob you on that day.lol

Never know, you'd put up a good fight. Carlton has always had excellent support in Perth. Personally I'd be too gutted to even move let alone consider violence.

I think you're right but it's very rarely paid. I've seen it happen quite often this season where a player will go for the rushed behind and hit the behind post instead and the umpires don't penalise them.

Surely if the scores are tied, and you punch the ball through for the winning point for your own team, its not a free kick.

If it is, that's just ludicrous.

Geelong = 9 points
Swans = 3 points (Adam Goodes moved well in 1 hour training session today . Looks highly likely to play)

Geelong v Port Adelaide - Port should be competitive but I think the Cats' class will prevail in the end as well as two MCG trips in a row (one coming off a 6 day break) might be a bit much for Port. Cats by 26pts, 46K

Sydney v Carlton - The Swans are looking a bit rattled but if history repeats itself, they should get up. Should be close though. Swans by 11pts, 44K

Geelong vs Port Adelaide - I tipped Port last week against all the odds and I'll do it again to see if it can snag them a win. It's gonna be tough against the Cats, but this might just be Ports destined year; who knows? Port by 3 points in front of 50K

Sydney vs Carlton - The Swans look fatigued, but Hannebery today insisted they are not. The reigning premiers are too good of a team to go out in straight sets and having Goodes back could potentially be a massive boost. The Swans will correct themselves this week to set up a Preliminary final against Fremantle in Perth the following week. Swans by 24 points in front of 47K

as much as i'd hate (well love) to say it, i think the swans are cooked. i think the blues will win by 23.
surely geelong will turn it around this week, they have the finals experience and will beat port comfortably by 34.

If Carlton made it to the prelims ( Somehow) then I think we would be too battered and bruised to put up much of a fight.

Yep, if you were to beat Sydney I think you'd need to play out of your skins to do so and likely wouldn't have anything left in the tank when you faced us.

Yeah Sydney aren't a soft team so we would be pretty bruised and I'd imagine a Freo v Carlton game would end up like WC's prelim against Geelong in 2011. Freo would certainly be fresh for the GF though.

Geelong v Port Adelaide by 27 points (42k)

Even though with the sore bodies of Geelong and the huge injury of Enright, Geelong will be to good.

Sydney v Carlton by 34 points (37k)

The difference between Sydney and Carlton is unbelievable.

If there is a chance of an upset this week, it would be Port over Geelong. There is no way in the world the Blues will win this week.

Geelong vs Port crowd 44k Geelong by 24
Sydney vs Carlton 46k Carlton by 11

I reckon there will be around 25,000 at most on the Friday night and probably closer to 20K.

I cannot think of a final in Melbourne that has had more going against it.

For starters, neither team are based in Melbourne. Secondly Geelong supporters find it difficult getting to Friday night matches in Melbourne and only the hardiest of Port supporters will make it. Thirdly, Friday night's weather forecast is shocking, there will be zero 'spur of the moment' supporters and bugger all MCC members. I suspect plenty of ticket holders might opt to sit on a comfy couch in front of the tv rather than the wet seats and plastic macs of the MCG outer.

Try booking a flight on Friday to Melbourne and see if you think only the hardiest of Port supporters will make it. $360 if you leave at 7am...but most flights are around the $500 mark if you want to make it in time for opening bounce.

When the difference between the cheapest ticket and business class is $9 on a Virgin Blue flight...I think there's a fair few people going over. I'd say 5k minimum.

If you guys can't at least get 30k when you're an hour down the freeway...

You say that.... but you finish work, you go home, you have a meal, you organise the family you drive to the G, you can't get into the car park because it's too wet, you spend another half hour walking around in the rain. All of a sudden it's three hours after you finish work and you still aren't n the ground. This to see a match where the cats either win - and it's considered routine - or we lose and its a depressing 90 minute drive home in the rain. Friday night matches have never been that popular for Geelong fans. If you've come over from SA, you're going to the match, if you're local cats fan, it's pretty easy to stay home and stay comfortable, especially as Geelong fans haven't been too deprived of finals matches in recent years.
