Who said anything about needing a week off for these pursuits?

Well Calder is trying to help you as much as possible by naming Brown & Watt ahead of Hale.

Does this guy even get penalised for naming Harding at FB every week when he could actually play a KP there? Riewoldt will kick 60,000 goals on him.

So Scott Thornton is an acceptable Full Forward? Rightio. So much for cutting down on players playing in unrealistic positions. If you don't have a suitable player for a position, that position should score 0 otherwise the whole concept of having a starting 18 is a crock of shit.

Its not like he named him there. Hudson was named on Thursday night, what more can you do but name emergencies? All of those players named on the bench would have done enough to beat your side, and no team will go in with 17 players if they dont have a suitable full-forward!

What stupid logic.

Isn't the whole purpose of having a game where you name a positional 18 every week to actually have a side which has a minimum 2 KP backs, 2 KP forwards & a ruckman? Clearly this is the purpose of the game, as it says in the rules "Each week you must name 18 players in realistic positions."

If you then name a KP and that KP doesn't play and you don't have a realistic player to replace him, why does this rule become void? This isn't like an AFL club where the next best suitable player replaces him. If that sort of logic applied, wouldn't you just draft 1 ruck, 2 KP backs, 2 KP forwards and 37 smalls instead to have a majority of the best type of scorer rather than a well rounded squad of players which covers each type of player? If you don't have a suitable replacement for a player who doesn't play, thats because you haven't drafted and traded well enough to have cover. You should get penalised for this.

I dare say there has been no explanation because there is none.

Realistically, last week Goodes should have been moved to FF, Deledio onto the ball and Dew or Armstrong onto the HHF.
or Goodes to FF, Adcock on the ball, Thornton on a back flank ;)

But subs have nothing to do with where the player was named on Friday - there's other rules to cover that. I look at the name in the spreadsheet (where it doesn't tell me what possie he was named in), and pick the most similar of the bench to replace him. So when replacing Hudson, I was looking for the guy most capable of playing ruck - I guessed Thornton would probably do a better job than Stewart, Browne or Armstrong.

If you've got 2 good ruckmen, one of which can play somewhere else, you shouldn't have to risk being one short to play them both when number 3 is out injured.

I'll cop it seeing Goodes could be moved there and those other switches happen to make the lineup realistic, but if it gets to a situation where theres no realistic player in a KP or ruck position, whether it be a named player or a sub, that position should score 0 for the reasons I mentioned in my last post. The guy who kept naming Leigh Harding at FB should have had his score docked. This should be the rule, as well as player suspensions like there is now - if you can get away with it for one week and not suffer any consequences till the next week like the rule is now, a team could do this in a final or grand final and and undeservedly win because of it. Rule needs to be tightened.
