listened to some of the game on the radio yesterday, sounded like you guys walked all over sydney who is a very good team.

is it possible for you guys to make finals?
and if you could, would you actually want to make it... even though the draft this year will be chewed up...

it is possible, Sydney, North, Adelaidee all have very tough draws... 4 wins in the last 5 games could well be enough for us, and there are definitely 4 winnable games there...

if we go into the finals winning 5 of the last 6, our form and confidence will be up, would love us to play a final in those circumstances...

Absolutely right Woody - after our performance on Sunday, we're definitely still in with a real chance to play finals this year!

Been great to see many people from various clubs talking up our finals chances around this place too... back at the end of last year, it was only a few of us Demons on our own making that claim ;)

I hope you guys do make the finals. I did one of those finals predictors today & had you guys come in eight, just losing one more game (Hawthorn) but the last game of the Home & Aways will be a tough one against Norths.

Good Luck.

If we beat Brisbane at the Gabba and Port at footypark then we can make the finals. we also require a few losses to go our way as well though.

it's possible, but history is against us.

I'm really not fussed about finals this year. I want to see the development of players and team structures continuing, rather than have the coaching staff and players distracting themselves with thoughts of finals. If we continue to develope and play the young kids and play attacking footy, and we end up winning four of five and scraping in then that would be great (ldo).

Honestly, if we could just get one win on the road, either Brisbane or Port (or both) and then get one back over North, I'd say the last 6 rounds of the year were a great success. Winning on the road (in a "hostile environment") and beating a team that beat us earlier in the year would be amazing for the boys' confidence, far more important than scraping into the finals and then getting pumped by Hawthorn (likely to finish 5th imo).

Would take absolutely everything to go our way and for us to win in both Brisbane and Adelaide. Not likely but bloody hell you never know.

P.S - I'm impressed at the OP's devotion to Peter Street.

If we do it looks we will do to kangas what dogs did to us in 2005 i think it was, knock them out even though they have been more consistent over the year.

Classic action footage of Bulldogs players looking shattered when Robbo's kick bounced through :D

i thought jeff kicked it after he was pushed out of the ruck contest? Or are you talking about the essendon match where 10 i think was the channel showed dogs players?

We also walked all over Brisbane, which was a good team at the time, and then struggled to win a game in the weeks after. Let's just...wait for it...take it one week at a time ;)

Rather not make finals. Finish 9th and smash norf in the last round would be a good result. Just think we're not ready. Essendung made it last year and got flogged. Now they're going backwards

I wouldn't mind us making finals and when I did the ladder predictor we needed to win the last match against norf to see who out of the 2 would make the 8th spot...

But a lot of things would have to go our way. And we definitely would need to actually have 1st qtrs like last weeks against Sydney.

Silly comment. Essendon lost because they played with out a ruckman against a red hot Adelaide.

We would most likely get the Doggies or Freo, both of whom we have had narrow losses. Not to mention the fact we would have won 6 or 7 out of the last 8 games.

How is my comment silly? So if they played a ruckman they would have come closer or even won? Doubt it. Scores would have been the same no matter how many rucks they played. Fact is essendung weren't ready and should not have been there, they fell in there by accident.

No. Finish off the year strong, get all injuries sorted out and have a proper pre season in AFL standard facilities. And go hard next year with a bigger watts, Morton and gysberts

Yeah good post. Totally agree. We are not ready for finals yet. The last thing we would want is Freo or Hawks smashing us by 12 goals. Happy with 9 and a half wins, which would just have us sitting out of the 8 with an eye and hunger for a finals tilt in '11'.

So you think getting a belting in that game is the reason they have gone backwards?

Nothing to do with the fact that they lost Lucas, Llyod and Andrew Lovett? Or the fact that Mathew Knights seems to have coaching ability of smashed crab?

There is nothing that will ever replace the experience gained by playing finals footy. It would give the boys a taste to inspire them over summer.

No, I'm saying they weren't ready to play that game in the first place.

No you said that they got flogged last year and now they are going backwards. And I said that it is silly to say the two are interrelated. I say they’ve gone backwards because they lost 3 senior players, 4 including McPhee and they have a ridiculously hit and miss game plan.

Professional sports people are not or at least shouldn’t be that mentally weak, talent will only get you so far. If we have some of those types that are that weak then its better to know now before we waste another pre-season on them.

I would love to finish as high as possible, but my priority is the same as a few above me. I want to win at LEAST one of the interstate games and get one back over North.

I'm with Andy_Mac. Essendon made the finals last year because there was no competition for the 8th spot, except with a pitiful Hawthorn, and their game style was as Andy said much too hit and miss. It's plain to see however that we're a developing side, unlike Essendon who were great one week and then all over the show the next. We've been consistent for most of the year and challenged all the good sides bar Geelong and Hawthorn, the latter which we can redeem soon.

I can't see how making the finals could ever disadvantage a team for the following year. I don't know why there is so much negativity in here. You've proven to be no easy beats this year & I for one believe Melbourne have played well enough to be in the final 8. As a Saints fan I'm less fearful of playing against say Norths or Adelaide than the Demons.
