Any insight as to why these two **** knuckles were carrying guns? Were they planning to use them? Or do they just take them everywhere in case?
They were kicked out and arrested before the police even knew they had weapons. If their intent was to use them, they would have.

Assistant Commissioner Therese Fitzgerald said the men were both on bail at the time.

"It is known that one of the offenders is a prohibited person and should not have been carrying a firearm," she said.

Really? Stating the obvious I would have thought.

Wasnt there 2 supporters last year at this exact same game that got busted with a weapon?

It probably happens a lot more than the police and MCC will admit.

If these 2 weren’t misbehaving enough to get kicked out, nobody would have known they were armed.

The Securecorp guards look half asleep and disinterested most of the time, so this probably happens more than we think it does.

Incredibly dumb. We are just fortunate they weren’t dumb enough to pull them out and threaten someone causing crowd panic or worse shoot someone.

Also a bad failure on the part of security that these weren’t detected.

We will very much enjoy the longer queues for searches now. Did they go through the normal security protocol or did they manage to bypass it?
I entered through Gate 3 10 mins before the game. No security at all no the right side of the metal gates and a gap that led straight into scan a ticket. Possible they just slipped through there.

"Our security screening units identified items of concern and further investigation was required, our initial internal investigation identified a breakdown in the thoroughness of the secondary and manual screening process," he said in a statement.

Not to mention the breaches of bail, endangerment of public safety. And with the public narrative around “soft sentencing” by judges, and even the prime minister saying “throw the book at them”. These guys are stuffed.

****ing idiots.

if there club members will they lose their membership ?

So you’re out on bail and you bring a loaded gun to the footy.
Then proceed to behave in such a way that people around you call security.
Security asks them to leave and they don’t.
Cops called and finds gun.
It beggars belief.

It be a bigger punishment to make them keep it.

But seriously, yes, those two absolute twatwaffles should have their memberships microwaved, and be banned for life from attending any event at the MCG, at the least - along with whatever the police decide to throw at them.

Those two aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

Definitely sends a scare through all public events with security now. Hell there was an incident at an airport recently to where a guy with shot gun made it all the way to the cabin of a passenger aircraft.

That should never happen in today's world but budget cutbacks will always occur to save a dollar and security costs would be first to get cut.

Yep- I’ve been scanned lots of times but it’s all pretty casual, a bit random and a bit sloppy.
