Heard Malthouse say a few weeks back he expected Swan, Penalbyry etc to make mistakes and some turnovers as thats part of playing hard inside, whereas he was very critical of backs and forwards with time and space making them.

I think that's a great point. Jackson and Edwards generally have time when they make their errors, which is why it's so bad when they do.

Funnily enough, the less time Edwards has the better he seems to do. Clearly he over thinks it when in space.

They have both tightened up in this aspect this year, but Jackson is still prone to too many mistakes. Edwards I am more than happy to stay in the team for the foreseeable future. Jackson still needs to be upgraded.

just have to make sure we keep drafting well so that when players like tuck and newman retire we have ready made replacements, i think we will be fine to cover newman, but we still need some quality midfielders over the next few years

I'd have nothing against the club doing their usual thing at the draft table, but then drafting a mature aged, ready to go midfielder in the rookie draft.

We don't have many out and out midfielders at Coburg.

The thread is not really about whether Jackson or Tuck belong in our best 22..they are clearly at least on the fringes and we're talking about depth. If two other players force Jackson and Tuck out of the side, they are pretty handy players to have waiting at Coburg. If both are pushed out, our depth will be looking pretty good I'd say.

Tuck is an absolute hack who has played barely any good games this year, if any at all. He consistantly breaks down chains of play by trying to bauk his opponent then he gets put under pressure and either a) stuffs it up or b) handballs it to a teammate under pressure and while that looks good on his stats he has turned it over.

All he does is bomb the ****ing ball as far as he can into the forward line, along with Tuck. The sooner we find skilled big body replacements (as we don't have them yet) the better off we will be. They are some of our weakest links and need to be replaced.

I can only think of one Tuck on our list....

I understand your sentiments but IMO Tuck is extremely valuable to the side (Jackson not quite so mucu, but still holds his place - I assume that is who you are talking about). We all know their weaknesses but until they outweigh the strengths, they are automatic inclusions for me. (Tuck moreso).

Guy had 35 touches 10 clearances and 10 tackles on the weekend. Not to mention he generally keeps other clearance players quiet.

Some people need to look beyond fancy looking players. We are a MUCH better team with Tucky in the side.

Yep spot on it amazes me how some on here carnt see what a dam good footballer tuck is .

Tuck is having a great season and wouldn't have his named touched on the team board barring injury. His clearance work is exceptional and I hate the love that outside players get at the expense of inside players.

Also i would have put Jackson in the bests for the WC game as well as the Hawks game to name 2. His influence on the game is critical as he limits his opponent people need to not comment if they only saw the stat line.

Also big bodied mids are worth their weight in gold. If your selecting mids you go for the talented ones and then the big bodies.
Anyone who doesn't rate big bodies has never played midfield, the strength they bring wears other players down and is key to clearances

From the little I've seen of him, I've been quite impressed. Reminds me of a couple of Johnson's > Brad (WB) and Steve (Geelong).

Yep. He has a great kick (not shy to kick a goal from 50+m), very good at using his body one on one in marking contests (but hard to tell if this will be as good at AFL level) and they way he moves seems to have a alot of time and poise. Seems to be able to think his way through situations. But he seems miles away in terms of fitness. But he is playing in a midfield/half forward role which I believe he hasn't played before. Pretty exciting.
