FTA-TV First Dates - Part 8 - Dead Dates

Had a good night's sleep, but woke up with my bad knee even worse today. I've put on an elastic knee brace to give it more stability which has somewhat helped. I'll see how I go over the weekend. The opiates I've started for the pain haven't been too effective. Might have to see my GP to give me a referral to an orthopaedic surgeon, though I don't know what he can do for me. A knee replacement is out, so it's trying to manage the pain.

I called my brother last night and we spoke for over an hour. We normally text every day but he wanted to talk to me after I told him my news. Memories of both my parents' health and falls were discussed. He had planned on flying out to see me this year, but I didn't want him to see me like this. I'd prefer him to remember me when on our Vegas trips and going to Cubs games - the fun times. When he visited eight years ago I was just on the verge of being diagnosed. I was even walking only with a cane at the time. Things have changed.

I went to a funeral today for someone I used to work with. She was only 58 ☹️. It wasn't a traditional funeral. It was at a place where you select a tree and your ashes are buried with the tree. It's hard to explain but this is the place...

Why is it every time I go to Marvel Stadium, public transport is shit?? The train just went straight through the station and didn't stop!!!! And it was a footy special!!!

Happy Mother's Day to the Mums 💐.

Mothers Day GIF

Took mum out to lunch. I ate too much. I'm stuffed!

I remember my mum's last Mother's Day ten years ago. I made her a lobster tail which I had to put into a blender with a heap of butter since she had trouble swallowing. Last pic I have of her is with my cat, Lily, on her lap that afternoon. Mum died about a month later. We knew her time was coming.

Went to the cemetery this morning to put flowers on my dad's grave. There were so many people there because of Mother's day. Normally there's only a handful at most.

sigh Bring back 2018...

I haven't really followed Eurovision since Covid. Remember the posts in 2018. Good. Times.

This year's entries: yawn

A guy I work with is obsessed with Eurovision, I find it a bit weird. I've only taken notice that year Lordi won and when Voyager represented Australia

Go Delta!
I actually like her song. Looks like it's fifth favourite to win. I wasn't living here when Delta's career took off, so I had never heard of her until she popped up on a few TV shows. I like her. She has that all Australian girl image to her.

Voss has "resigned"!
Not shocked at all.
And, of course, we play the Blues this weekend. Apparently we're the leaders in playing teams directly after the coach resigns/gets sacked. We're 4 - 1 in those games.

I like her too. She's very talented.

Only 5th favourite? Damn!

Yep teams normally win after the coach is sacked.

Talked to my GP today via Telehealth to go over how my pain meds are going and about my fall. Then she tells me that she's leaving the practice in two weeks to a clinic closer to home. Not the kind of news I wanted to hear. I've been seeing her for four years and she's been the one who compiles the info from my seven specialists. I'm being transferred to another new doctor at the practice. I have to go over my Care Plan with her and get new referrals from her for my specialists. Stability is what I need at this time. That and routine.

Before my mum passed she had a few falls, she had one brutal one in the hospital (prob a good place for it to happen), looked like she'd done 12 rounds with Tyson. Not gonna lie, was hoping when people walked past when I was visiting I hope they knew i wasn't the perpetrator, maybe a weird thing to think about.

That sucks Chicago1.
I didn't have a specific GP up until 3 years ago. I'm really happy with her and she is very thorough. Plus she always bulk billed. I wouldn't want to change to another GP.

I had my 6 monthly blood test this morning. Hopefully all my results will still be good 🤞.

When I was caregiver for my Mum, she used to bruise easily. Once when she was admitted to the geriatric department of the hospital they questioned where she got the bruises. Luckily the head nurse knew my mum's medical history. She broke both wrists. One when she slipped on the cement stoop outside our front door. The second when she slipped taking a step into a sunken living room. She didn't see the step. It was Thanksgiving. We spent a few hours at the local hospital.

I fell in the Eye and Ear hospital after one of my cataract surgeries. I was using a walker to get to the toilet in my room and just slipped. They had to get a lift machine to get me back into the bed. My cardiologist was very forthright when she said that I wouldn't die from my neurological illness. Rather, I'd probably fall and break something and die under anaesthesia or from pneumonia. That's why falling last week jolted me.
