The US ended DST over the weekend, so the religious service I watch from Washington started at 3am this morning. I didn't get to sleep until almost 5am. It really messed up my sleeping routine. Didn't get out of bed until 2pm. I don't think I'll be able to watch every week.

No, just not the same. Watching it live is almost like being there. I won't be able to attend this weekend. I have a neurologist appt in the city on Mon and we have to leave by noon.

Wed at 2am is the funeral service for the woman who was in charge of Chat. It's a private service, but those of us who attend weekend service have been provided with a link for it. She was my age and always asked how I was. She was very interested in indigenous Australians.

Happy Melbourne Cup Day

In 1976 I decided to dress up and go to my first and only Melbourne Cup. Flemington was only a short distance from my flat in Maribyrnong. All I remember is that it absolutely poured that day and I hung around with some other 20 somethings that I had met there. We got absolutely soaked but had a great time. Van der Hum won, beating the favourite, Gold and Black.

I had to ask a school colleague how to place a bet at the TAB at subsequent Cups. I always bet on #4 and any horse or jockey with an American connection and/or wore red, white and blue silks. Needless to say, I didn't win much in 25 years.

I texted my brother in Phoenix with 10 minutes to go and he watched it.

We haven't seen the rabbit at the holiday house since the dodgy neighbours put the fence up. There have been no poo pellets on the grass either. So it was obviously coming into our property from their side.
