Been talking to Brett Anderson from Inside Footy and he says that the club loves Lennon, so looks like the majority here will get there wish.

Has to get to us first. Not so convinced that'll happen now. Lions and Collingwood are very interested. Comes down to where Bontempelli and Scharenberg go, pies will pounce at 10 if they are both gone.

Grockadoc are you still keen on Freeman?

As I said, Sheed/Scharenberg are my first priority, but given Sheed will not be there, and Scharenberg probably won't be there, Freeman for me is the type of player that our midfield lacks. I just think his potential upside is too great to ignore, and whilst he might not be as ready to go as some others, he is one of the more talented, and I feel the club is now in the position, depth wise, to be able to draft players who are high risk, high reward. I don't think Freeman is high risk, but he certainly isn't the "safe, certain" option that FJ seems to have taken in these drafts, and of those, I'd say only Crouch, Salem and Lennon would be considered safe options at our pick.

I believe Freeman could end up top 3 in this draft if developed right, and I think we have gotten so much better at developing players the last 2 years or so that we can afford to take Freeman, and look at the long term, rather than the now as we have done with Dusty, Conca, Ellis and Vlastuin, if you know what I mean.

Just imagine a midfield duo of Martin and Freeman. Most explosive midfield in the AFL.

That being said, my rankings for our pick are:

1: Scharenberg
2: Sheed
3: Freeman
4: Lennon
5: Salem
6: Crouch

I think he struggles to get enough of the ball, and his kicking isn't flash, what do you think?

Agree with the first bit. Freeman has been inconsistent across games, racking up big tallies of possessions one week, and just a handful the next. This may be because he was getting tagged due to the damage he can do, or it could be that he is too reliant, as an outside player, on teammates giving the ball to him. I'm not sure. Could be both. In those two examples, he'd be a good fit for us. Cotch, Lids and Dusty would all be tagged before him, and he'd have Cotch, Conca, Foley etc. distributing the ball to him from the contests. Still, he needs to work on his outside game, which is okay, but should be better than what it is. I think with a stocked midfield like ours, he'd be able to work on this pretty quickly.

I disagree with your second point. His kicking is quite good, I think. Can hit the target across most distances, and puts it to a position that will advantage his teammate. He is also someone who kicks the ball to where the target WILL be, rather than where it IS, so it means they don't have to break stride and can move it on quickly. He also knows his limitations and plays within them. I reckon his kicking is pretty good. Definitely not poor, but not outstanding either.

Wouldn't mind Lennon. If he is not there, why the hell would we not go for Acres?
Tallish mid. Great mark. Kicks well both feet. Kicks goals. Moves nicely. Huge potential. Very classy.

We do lack a few guys who can take a grab around the ground. This is the guy. As someone said, looking in 5 years time he would be top 5 from this draft.

I'm kind of happy to have anyone. Lennon seems a nice fit.

Heard you the first time brother :D

But i agree with your sentiments. They reckon the top 12-15 are heads and shoulders above the rest. We will get a good kid at 12 and the key to it all really is how well we can develop them. Help them become great players. FJ has done his research and hasnt let us down over the last 5-6 years in the 1st rd :thumbsu:
