Dreading it, please no. Likely to face an elimination final in the first week.

Its looking a lot like last year, bees dick off 4th but doesnt look like we'll quite get there.

Winning one final would atleast make the bitter pill of blowing top 4 a bit easier to shallow.

That's a real negative thread Understudy.

I don't personally fear any team in the 8 and I'm glad the Bulldogs,
Melbourne & Richmond aren't in the mix.

Geelong - we match up well and have a great recent history against them.
Port - should have beaten them this year
WCE - midfield has gone adrift and look almost gone
Kangas - they are our bitches.
Hawthorn - depends on which Hawthorn comes to play
Adelaide - also have a great recent record against them
Sydney - They are our bitches too

I'm quite confident of matching up against any of these teams
and as we know, September action is a completely different ball game.

Good to know that we have the most experienced Coach in the finals

I wonder, just wonder, whether we can get there and win it from 5th or 6th.
Sheeezzz some team has to do it one one day from 5th,6th,7th,or 8th
I suppose the logic is easy, play the best 4-5 games you ever played and just win every game. It's not impossible for a team that falls into form, and doesn't get any major injuries, and most importanly believes they can win and just keep winning. In finals anything can happen.

Round 22:

Pies d Crows (possible)
Swans d Hawks (very possible)
Dogs d Roos (outside chance)

Pies finish 4th.

1st week of Finals:

Pies d Cats (possible)

Into Preliminary Final at the MCG.

I'm optimistic.

Lets be honest, even if we lose first week of the finals this year has been an improvement.

I am confident though that we can give the finals a good shake - we have nothing to lose now! When we are on we play very good pressure football and there is no stronger pressure than finals.

As long as we don't "rest" Buckly, we're in with a chance. It's all or nothing now!!

We might have to win 6 in a row.

I think its possible, if we finish 5th it looks like we play port at home in the PF. Thats after beating saints and roos.

We got the side, i think its open for whoever can take it this year.

Agree, all the teams that are in the eight we seem to play well against.....our sort of bogey teams Dogs, Dees, Saints all may miss out........but by beating the crows we may open the door for the Saints to sneak in!

as long as the lions, saints & dogs arent in the finals (always struggle agaisnt those teams) I really dont fear anyone, and dont feel that other teams will really fear us.

finishing 6th would be better travel wise, (based on winning) would play home round 1, play the eagle or port away round 2, play the cats / hawks / roos @ the MCG prelim.

Our bogey teams are out of contention for the eight, so we have every right to be confident. However, I wouldn't want to play Geelong in the first week of the finals, simply because they will beat whoever they play.

Winning one of the last 5 is a great recent record now?

Not that it means anything but we have a 17-9 record against you.

Thats what people mean when they mention our 'great record' against you.

He said recent though, implying that in games played in the recent past you have beaten us consistently. Port Adelaide lead us 12 to 11 but we have won 7 of the past 9 against them we have a fantastic recent record against them but an average record total.

Likewise you have an excellent record against us total but a poor recent record.

How far back do you want to go ?
ok 1 out the last 5
4 out the last 8
8 out the last 16 and that takes us to about 1998, I think that is far enough. The key word people seem to be missing is recent. I'm not looking to troll or for a fight but he did say that you have had excellent recent form against us which simply isn't true.

Hows your finals record against us ?
I'd like to see that

Your way 1-0 (2002)

I agree his assesment is not right.

We thumped your early in the year though, will be interesting to see how Friday night pans out.

re 1-5

Last year was a very close game later in the year at AAMI and we were very much still young and developing (and you guys in hot form) when we lost to you early in 2006.

Re our 2004 and 2005 losses, those seasons were right offs so wouldnt read much into them.

Then we can go back to 2003 when we beat you twice and 2002 when we beat you in the prelim final, great memories.
