Monfries would be a way down the pecking order in regards to fitness. Even a bloke from his draft like Slattery would be ahead of him.

Try again. Monfries won several of the endurance tests at training and finished well up in all of the time trials.
Ant, if we was one of the fittest last year he was certainly doing his best not to show it.
Which is exactly why a lot of this pre-season testing is redundant on the footy field. It's important to monitor process, but it doesn't transfer to the footy field.
It's one thing to run 3.2km's in fast time, it's another thing to get tackled, get bumped, run, jump, change directions and the like.
Bashar Houli might be the fittest bloke at Essendon, but there is no way he's the most 'football fit.'

Lets see, second pre season and interupted with shoulder surgery last season. Of course he wasnt one of the fittest last year. He had a limited go at pre season last year.
Fittest would be Bolts then Stanton.
