Monfries would be a way down the pecking order in regards to fitness. Even a bloke from his draft like Slattery would be ahead of him.

I was pretty sure Monfries ran that trial run against Geelong first all the way then Houli pipped him. Bolton and Stants are probably the fittest in my eyes when i have a think about it though. Stanton can run all day

Bachar won the 3.2 time trial I read.

Hard to define "fittest" though. Over what distance? In terms of match endurance over 4 quarters, you'd have to say Stanton based on last year. Never stops running. Reminds me a bit of a prime Robert Harvey in that regard.

Fastest - everyone is talking Davey from training, so he must be there abouts.

Speaking of Dempsey, does anyone thinking fans (ours) are sleeping a bit on this guy, with all the hype of the injection of fast rookies? This guy is amazingly quick, and once he puts on on a bit more bulk, could be anything.

From the website: While Courtenay got a taste of AFL football last season, there could be no stopping him becoming a crucial midfielder if his summer exploits on the training track are any indication. With sharp skills to add to his sizzling pace, look for Courtenay to cause a few headaches for the opposition this year.

Sounds like he has worked pretty hard over the summer.

Try again. Monfries won several of the endurance tests at training and finished well up in all of the time trials.

Ant, if we was one of the fittest last year he was certainly doing his best not to show it.

Which is exactly why a lot of this pre-season testing is redundant on the footy field. It's important to monitor process, but it doesn't transfer to the footy field.

It's one thing to run 3.2km's in fast time, it's another thing to get tackled, get bumped, run, jump, change directions and the like.

Bashar Houli might be the fittest bloke at Essendon, but there is no way he's the most 'football fit.'

Lets see, second pre season and interupted with shoulder surgery last season. Of course he wasnt one of the fittest last year. He had a limited go at pre season last year.I wasnt commenting on last year. Last year is gone.
Trust me i have seen him do the endurance running test a few time at training this year and he has been finishing it level or in front of blokes like Stanton and Bolton.

Thats not what I was debating. It was the fact he isnt, based on exposed match form the fittest at the club. Thats all the question asked, not make excuses for players fitness.

We'll see the proof in the pudding when this season starts as to what progress he has made over the pre season.
