ENGLAND'S walking ego Kevin Pietersen is likely to be sacked as a cricket civil war explodes after England's woeful Ashes capitulation.

Coach Andy Flower has reportedly issued a 'me or KP' ultimatum to England selectors after deciding he can no longer work with the selfish batsman who walks to the beat of his own drum.

Surely the ECB see that they need a new coach more than they don't need KP. Talk of KP not having the drive or ambition anymore are pure crap IMO. KP got in most times he batted. He just wasn't in good form and our bowling plans to him were superb.

No idea what's going on behind closed doors with KP. Maybe he deserves some of the crap he's got. But personally I think it's a bit harsh. His form wasn't any worse than most of the squad. And claims that he's been disinterested and not contributing enough tactically... well... I always got the impression the guy just wasn't very bright.

Talking about signing your own death warrant. England just got belted 5-0, the performance by the captain was something akin to Melbourne FC under Mark Neeld, experience players generally failed with KP being leading run scorer and the team has been sliding down the rankings for some time. All this is hardly the sort of stuff to say these comments and get your best bastmen booted out of the side.

No-one denies KP has an ego that struggles to fit into most stadiums, but they've been plenty like that before him, you just have to manage them. The English team have more backroom staff than any other team under Flower and their performances on-field are getting worse, the fact that he allowed it to get to the point of sending an 82 page dietry requirement book before the tour sums up how bad it has got. The English press has had a field day over this and Flower's demise should now be guaranteed. After all it is a hell of a lot easier to find a coach than to find a batsman who can average close to 50, just ask CA.

A public admission that you can't manage your players is pretty piss weak from an international cricket coach. Not exactly a strong showing.

Pretty much what happened with Mickey Arthur. We sacked Arthur, and the team was transformed almost overnight. I suspect England need to consider doing the same.

Will be placing Flowers on the grave of English cricket.

KP is a massive knob, however he's their best batsman and was the only one who didn't appear genuinely spooked by Mitch Johnson's fire.

Unfortunately we don't know what happens behind closed doors, it may be that KP is too insufferable, having a detrimental effect on the team.

Must say, I'm bloody lovin' the meltdown

This is just amazing - get on the Sky Sports website and watch all the little video shows with Bob Willis, Mark Butcher, Marcus Trescothick and co debating the various options available - enthralling viewing.

To my mind Cook isn't a Test Match Captain - not after what I've witnessed live at the MCG two weeks ago. You cannot teach or learn what you need to have to perform effectively at that level. So where do they go?

Pietersen was actually good at captaining England his issues were off field and if you listen to Mark Butcher's assessment from his limited time at Surrey he is great with young players. He got the arse from the job because of a fall out with Peter Moores and gave the same ultimatum to the ECB who turfed both out. I'm a person who focuses on team first, but right now I'd jettison Andy Flower and a few of his offsiders and put KP in charge and let him have whatever set up he wants. What have they got to lose? Their is no other captaincy option remotely available in the system and it would bring the best out of KP - I am sure of that.

Watching at the match it looked like KP occasionally running up to talk to Cook was the only team any decent tactical decisions were made.

And one of the accusations lumped at him is that he wasn't supporting Cook's captaincy enough- I'm not sure what exactly he's meant to do from the boundary where Cook (and by extension Flower) had him.

both will go. kp just didn't give a shit in the end

I thought that when I saw him jog to collect a ball and then threw it to a space ten metres away and ten metres short of the keeper. It was a lazy throw.

Couldn't agree more. Tactically inept and his media performances were woeful. Reminded me of Harry Enfield's "Tim, nice but dim"
