Yeah he has alienated a big group of people, not just gay people. If those people are also paying customers of the league that employs him, it's reasonable for it to impact his employment there.

Australia is secular. Maybe 10% of Australians are really truly religious at best. You enjoy football on Saturday and Sunday, drink alcohol, don’t go to church at least once a week, engage in pre marital sex, watch tv etc etc etc, then congratulations you’re enjoying the civil liberties of a secular society.
