Alan Joyce can have Folau sacked and the Bible will still say what it says about homosexuality. The only way to be sure is to kill the Bible.
If Folau didn't accept the ARU's policy on inclusion, he should have found a job with the homophobic rugby league instead, but I hear their pay is shit....maybe money is the root of all evil. ;)

Signing a contract with obligations that he never intended to fulfil could land him in Hell for lying.

I'm the real deal with sex appeal :D

Folau has every right to express his opinion and should be applauded for doing so.

Contract.

You agree to these conditions and we will pay you a million a year.

If you don’t agree to these conditions, we will withdraw the contract offer.

Put it this way, I have a similar contract conditions, and I know I would have been shown the door if I expressed those opinions in an open public forum.

Thae latter is more a comment on your social circles than anything else. Reckon you'll find at the very least that 50% of people support Folau's right to express his beliefs, without necessarily agreeing with what he said.

This is a grey area of the right to freedom of speech. In essence, I absolutely agree that maintaining freedom of speech should be upheld as one of society's highest virtues.

In this instance, I worry mostly for young gay Christians. Being at a higher risk of suicide and mental illness than the average teenager, it is not unforseeable that some in this cohort would be adversely affected (I mean seriously, not just being offended) by Folau's tweets.

When such grey areas arise, I think it is incumbent on society to respond in such a way as to preserve freedom of speech, which means that we must find alternatives to censoring, yelling at and/or banning people to deal with the tension that arises from such a situation.

With all of that considered, I think the best course of action would be for Folau not to be sacked, and a societal response to ensue that reaches out to young gay Christians and indeed others Folau believes to be of lesser value than he, and offer support to them publicly.

Jesus never stated he hated homosexuals; it's old testament tripe that includes banning women from social interaction during their menses. In the background, The Church could come out and clarify the "facts" laid bare in The Bible, and make sure people stick to everything as stated in the text or to develop a new, considered reading of the text to offer as a basis for teachings going forward.

Issy wouldn't give a shit, he'd already be set for life. Especially not about people like slartifartiblastipastyflakypastry

Folau is entitled to his own opinion. Just like I’m entitled to disagree with his opinion, which I do.

I also agree with him being sacked for his comments/tweets. He is an employee of RUL or whatever it’s called. What they don’t need is to be dragged down by his comments. insensitive comments were made by one of their employees that could affect potential sponsorship, growth, attracting new players ect, he is responsible for his own actions, let him be accountable for them.

This isn’t or shouldn’t be about religious beliefs, and so called reception on right and wrong. People are entitled to believe what they want, it’s when your views and opinions have far greater consequences, that affect others, that it becomes an issue.

Seems like a pretty wide ranging bullshit clause if you ask me that you or me do not have in our lives nor do the other 99.9% of the world. You can word that clause however you like but the effect of it is this

Israel Folau is not allowed to have a religious belief

Whether you think that is right or not is up to you. I believe it is not right

He is allowed his religious beliefs. When it blatantly discriminates against others, it affects his current employer, that could cost a lot of revenue, as potential sponsors may not want their brand associated with someone who appears to be outdated, bigoted and outspoken in their views.

Well he didn't say "burn", exactly. He may just be implying a little searing or scorching.

I don't think his Instagram identifies Rugby Australia in any way. No logos, pictures, endorsements etc. It's clear that he is commenting as a private individual. Which is one of the issues raised... should sportspeople have fewer rights than ordinary citizens?

It is common knowledge of his association in RA. If he expressed the same views when he in AFL, I would expect a similar reaction from both the Giants and the AFL in standing him down.

You don’t know what being treated equally means though dude . Treated equally and being offended by a tweet is very very different .

If Folau refused to rent his house to a gay couple because of their sexuality then that is discrimination

Tweeting Homosexuals go to hell is nothing more than an offensive tweet
You dont get it do you.
This about workplace rules, he is a public figure and he has broken his contract which says he cannot discriminate on the basis of sexuality. He happily signed this contract so he could get 4M .
If you want to put out a tweet saying such they’re is no law stopping you but for a public figure who has signed a contract saying he will not discriminate there is.

Google the word vilification and you will have your answer as to what it may be classed as but it is most certainly not discrimination.

You were banging on about it having to be against a single person and not a group, now your trying to play semantics with words.
Give it up, you are looking really silly trying to justify Issy’s discrimination.
Note the words unjust treatment , categories of people, sex.

Then why hasn't Ablett been stood down by either the Cats or the AFL for liking Folau's comments?

Isn't Ablett expressing his same views with a like to his comments?

Many drunk drivers in he AFL have lost their clubs TAC sponsorship through illegal actions, but haven’t had their playing contracts cancelled and sometimes the sponsorship has potentially been more valuable to the club than the player (eg. Sharrod Wellingham).
This whole thing stinks.
Cheika publicly saying he wouldn’t select him while also acknowledging that he hadn’t spoken with Folau yet. How’s that for courtesy? On what basis is he not selected? Because his beliefs are different? So if he’d kept them to himself, he’d be ok to be in the team?
Folau’s teammates speaking about being inclusive, but not being inclusive of Folau and his beliefs. They weren’t baying for Kurtley Beale’s blood when he had his issues. There’s obviously an inclusiveness hierarchy, and homosexuality is higher on the inclusivity scale than Christianity. It’s also been turned into a single issue, issue, and homosexuality is also the only one frequently quoted in the media of the numerous behaviours which Folau posted of in his tweet. This is simply a case of the Twitter mob getting their pound of flesh.
If Folau had quoted the 10 commandments, what would the outcome have been then?
I pinched a lolly from the milk bar when I was a kid, and because of that would “go to Hell” according to Folau’s tweet, but water off a duck’s back for me. Would probably be so if I were gay too

It amazes me that anyone listens to Alan Jones.

Yeah, remember freedom of speech as far as I know (which isn't a lot tbh) isn't explicitly stated in our constitution.
Freedom of speech is one thing, freedom from consequences is another.
Issy, the twat, signed a contract with certain conditions in it, he broke said conditions, his contract was terminated.
Simple as that really.
It's in the hands of law-talking-guys now isn't it?
