Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

So far posters have listed 9 different songs as their favourite.

Probably a clue to a pretty consistent album.

That in itself is a rarity. Most albums are good for the 1st 5 or 6 songs if you are lucky.

Prime example is the Foos 1st album. Faded badly over the last few songs but its getting a good pump up here.

Walk and Dear Rosemary are the best, in front of Rope, I Should Have Known and These Days. Great that Krist Novoselic appears on the album.

Alot of people disagree with you crownie. IMO however this is there worst effort in a while. 3 or 4 songs I really dig and the rest are just meh

How "Walk" wasnt the first single is beyond me. Best song on the album by a mile
That bolded bit sums up every Foo Fighters album since 'colour and the shape' for mine.

Have only heard the one track from the latest album, but would be interested to hear from those with similar thoughts to mine stated above, if the new one is any different. Will probably check it out though, based on some of the comments here.

The Colour and the Shape is my favourite album of all time.

This album is definitely a return to form, and album of the year so far.

I'm with you for best rock album of the year.

Foo's got their first #1 in the US on Billboard, as well as #1 here in Australia and in the UK.

Haven't stopped playing the album since I got it.

Any news if they are likely to tour here and when?

Well they were here last month. Don't know when they are planning on coming back

Totally disagree with that. I still go back to the last half of that album more than the first half.

I agree also, the last half off their self titled album is better than anything off their last 4 albums.

"They'll never win back the cardigan-wearing indie snobs who swear by their debut, but on this, their seventh album, the Foos may have finally earned their place alongside the legends of rock".

Really liked the first 2 albums back when they were released but after that they really lost me. A few good songs here and there since but i think they are massively overrated.

They are a really good live band still. I have to give them that.

Still have much respect for Dave Grohl for what he has done. The man is a legend no doubt.

I like the Them Crooked Vultures album way more than anything Foo Fighters have done.

Since All My Life, you can basically back Foo Fighters for one or two good singles an album. They're not producing great albums any more, but they're consistent in producing some good songs.

My favourite Album in years. When I first listened to it I thought Meh, but the more I listen every song just rocks, except White Limo(Just screaming crap for mine).

Watched the doco over the weekend. Agree that it is compelling viewing for fans of the band. Not as good as Metallica's SKOM but still a great insight into the band.

the best documentries of bands are the ones that are done when the bands been around for 15 years and done it all.

i think if you wernt a fan of the band you would enjoy it, you can tell it was all very honest as well as being entertaining in spurts.

f*** rolling stone, the first album is quality and calling people "cardigan wearing snobs" for loving it is a cheap, nasty shot by an increasingly irrelevant music mag*

*disclaimer: i own and love cardigans.

*further disclaimer: i'm not an "indie snob" and would like to know what one is.

Maybe you're a indie Knob then...............

I think he's referring to those (and there's plenty) who love saying that nothing beats the 1st album as some way of looking down their noses at others who weren't there from the very start.
I happen to think the 1st album is overrated. It's a solo album anyway.

own and love cardis ...................

for f*** sake.

Watched it last night and thought it was great viewing. Interesting characters and interesting to see some things I've never really thought too much about (like William Goldsmith's departure... the elusive guitarist synergy... etc). Guess it's stuff I've never really been interested in following.

How cool is Pat Smear, though. Seems like he'd be a great guy to be friends with. :thumbsu:
