Has anyone noticed a few of the newer arrivals around here lately? As well as some of the posters who just seem to come and go, whenever they want to stir up trouble?
I doubt these people are even real supporters. They are probably the type who go to games when we're winning, but when we lose, they are quick to pick up on the tabloid run-down of events, and just as quick to stick the knife in. I wonder if they even put their money where their mouth is by paying for a membership?
It's one thing to discuss and even criticise what happens on the field, and what decisions a coach makes in regards to selection and positioning, but it's another thing entirely, to continually bag someone, a team, without even bothering to have a reasonable discussion in the process. The latter hardly makes for an interesting, entertaining, intelligent discussion.
If people don't like a player's performance, or a coach's decisions, they should feel free to say so. However, wouldn't a reasonable person also accompany their statements with an equally reasonable critique - not just "he's no good, get rid of him", or "we lost and the coach is no good".
One wonders whether such posters are new to our game entirely. Perhaps the strong on-field performances of the Lions in the past two seasons has spoilt these new-comers to our game, and the perspective of building a premiership side over a number of years has been lost on them entirely.
What's the point in posting topics of the ilk of "Matthews' terrible coaching display . . .", and others?? It's not constructive criticism we're talking here, just unfounded bagging. Notice how the few people who are sticking the knife in at the moment, seem to have no suggestions themselves to offer up. They're only comments are of a negative, attacking nature.
It seems as though the dogs only come out when it's dark, I guess.
I reckon this board would be better off without such contributors. They hardly make for interesting football discussion.
