What a farce.

There was no way Smits had a delayed reaction. He was jolted to the spot because the ball was past him before he realised, and well out of his reach. Look I'm no soccer dude but surely that was offside, he was in the line of play. It wasn't like he was 5 metres to the outside of the post, he was right in the middle of the play...and offside.

The club signed him at the start of last year and immediately loaned him out in Netherlands, supposedly with the idea that he would attract interest there and the club could collect a transfer fee.

If that didn't work out he would move to Adelaide for the rest of his contract.

The one complication was that he was seemingly terrible. (Or there is something even weirder going on in the background)

Oh, and he used up an import slot that could have otherwise been used to sign someone in the mid-season window.

He had a decent year in Dutch 2nd division, so he should have been able to fit into the A League easy enough.

Something very weird going on.

But I wonder if we have our eye on another rubbish import free agent??

Clubs elsewhere are signing players. One would think that with our injuries piling up, AU would at least be looking at signing a class Center back. Vriends is too slow, Barnett is not up to it, and who knows where Kikianis will be at season's end.

Ex-AU player Ap Stam is back in Sydney.
