The kiss of death has been performed by both the Murdoch & Fairfax press with almost all tipsters & various "experts" putting the Lions into 2nd spot this year.

Also interesting to note that Lions have the 3rd youngest team age average in the AFL.

Those bedazzles by Hawthorn youth & good looks should take another look - they are on average a fraction older!

From this it is difficult to see how expectations are so IMO excessivly high. After all our CHF is 19 & a host of other players around the ground have not much experience.

We dont have a regular CHF yet. J.Brown has performed poorly the last 3 games and is too young for that position right now. Maybe a year or two in the reserves and he will be ok.

As for the Lions being tipped to finish 2nd. They did that last year too.

Brisbane are really getting something right at the moment.....Go and look around on the boards and every prediction there is about the fianal 8, Brisbane is in there. Not only that, but 90% of the ppl think that we'll be top or 2nd.

So all these negative comments need to stop and look at the big picture!

What planet are you from, templar?

After the drivel you've come up with in other topics, this takes the cake. A year or two in the reserves?? Get real. Brown showed huge improvement in a short space of time last season, and is a key player in many pundits eyes.
Poorly the last three games?
He wasn't alone in the Port game - any forward would have rated poorly, but he still went OK in the backline in the last half. Against Hawthorn, I seem to remember him taking a couple of crucial marks in the last term, which helped us get over the line.
Just because he's young, doesn't mean a thing. He has a big body, can move, and has a good pair of hands. He may still have off games - but expect him to become a pivotal member of the Lions for years to come, starting from this year! How he never got a Rising Star nomination towards the end of last season is beyond me.

The coach said on 4BC on Tuesday night that Brown hadnt played well for 3 weeks. In the Hawthorn game he was taken off early because he hadnt had a touch and only came back on midway thru the 3rd quiarter.

You people are putting too much pressure on him. Let him do his apprenticeship in the reserves for a couple of years.

I hate the way everyone seems to be tipping us for second, because if you had to be realistic, we're just another team in that group of five or six who are below Essendon. At the end of the year, when we finish fourth or fifth, everyone will say that we underachieved, which is rubbish.
