This is the changing look of footy socks. (Barcelona shown here)

Do you think footy is ready for these styles?
Because they are coming.

Not with traditional looking jumpers. Teams like Barcelona do have traditional jumpers but they style them to give the whole jumper a uniformed look inlcuding the shorts and socks. Something with stylish curves like that with a traditional jumper such as Melbourne's would just look silly.

Not saying they would all look like that.
Just that, like those above, the whole idea of getting creative with socks is coming into vogue, rather than plain or hoops and nothing else.

I can't believe the uproar caused over the cutting of the socks this year, if no one had said anything, no one would have noticed. I certainly didn't notice the socks were cut and I sincerely doubt others realised too until it was brought up.

I'd hate for the AFL to follow the lead of say the NBA in America where they have dresscodes:eek: not only that, but I think they've now forbidden players from swaying a little during the singing of the national anthem over there...Yeah, that's a bit far I think

Plain or hooped, bugger the marketers. Our socks we wore against Carlton away this year were an embarrassment, why wouldn't we just wear black and white hooped socks is beyond me.

Totally agree, if Collingwood proved anything this year it is that socks matter, but only if you stuff them up.

Barcelona... soccer right?... do they come with a matching skirt?:p
No, but it comes with what we now called a matching "apparel sponsor".

In their case, it's Nike.
Nike, as you may know now only sponsor one AFL team, Carlton.

However, their friends Reebok, Puma, adidas and Diadora all also do soccer kits and are trialling designs for the changing look of footy socks.

PS Roars, I only know what people tell me.

Nike do the socks of the broncos and they are very alike those barcelona socks in design of the sock

Not as bad as those atrocious striped ones Collingwood used late last year...

Until they have stripes down the sides of them like Collingwood wore this year.
Then people complain.

West Coast, being a very forward thinking, and creative from a marketing perspective, club, will probably be one of the first to do something with their socks.
So hang for the ride, it might get ugly before it gets pretty.
