Thinking about this over the last few days.

The AFL has completely ruined this guy's life. Not Fairfax or Caro. It's the AFL, a game he loved. He was supposed to be getting hired by SEN this year and all of a sudden they are like oh nah we are just going to hire Gary we don't want too much controversy. BS the AFL stopped it. This could have been the best thing for Hirdy. Now the guy has tried too kill himself.

This is the worst possible scenario for the AFL. Not only do are they have a brownlow medalist in Perth ruining his own life(I know it's totally different situation but they can still do more). John McCarthy in Vegas, The Collingwood players getting done for PEDs and saying it was cocaine. They have now ruined one of their upstanding players and a brownlow/norm smith medalists life all on their own.. Being a parent of young kids why on earth am I going to want to put my kids into this sport? They aren't going to be playing it I'm over it. It's a disgrace.

It's all good too say the game is bigger than the person. But when greed overtakes the value of human life it is gone too far and you are going too lose support.
 
The Cornes article is spot on.

I think the AFL have to come out and make a statement of support for James otherwise the public are going to start to turn on them. This is bigger than just sport now and I hope the foamers are starting to realise that. We need more articles like this to shift public opinion to where it should be. Restore balance.

AFL will only be concerned with how they look so you can bet that any words said by them will underpin what they believe is what should be said for their personal best interests (and the league).

"It's all about the optics" - yet again.

The public is too far gone unfortunately. Swallowed it hook, line and sinker. They'll just ignore the Cornes article because it doesn't fit the narrative they've been fed.

Yep, in too deep with the partisan feeding frenzy to notice.

However, the support of Buckley, Cornes and Thomas is important in itself.

The media are blamed by all.

The AFL control their media.

They let them loose and spun, leaked and planted to get the outcome they wanted.

Demetriou and McLaughlan are responsible.

Gil is now the head of the league and cannot even summon a statement of support. It's disgusting.

You are spot on but can you realistically see them being held accountable? Most of the information is out there but it makes no difference. Would take a Sarah confession for it all to unravel IMO.
 
i think we need to all throw some support behind Bruce Francis.
He is the one person who has pushed and pushed hard for more details on this whole affair and i honestly believe he has James Hirds interests at the forefront.
Not too many others out there have been willing to put his views out their for this entire time

I think this would be a bad idea. I have doubts on Bruce's stability.

He means well but I too suspect he might be a bit of a good old-fashioned nutter.

Yeah but in Francis' case he actually did more harm than good with his meddling. There is a reason why he was shunned by EFC.

What's the reason? Everything I've read seems to support EFC, the players and Admin.

Lemmings keep repeating that they have been left alone and it's all on Jimmy. But beyond just the media scrum outside the family home, how do people know they are being left alone? In all likelihood their phones have been ringing off the hook, endless attacks on social media, constant bullshit when out in public, friends and family are being hounded... just because BF slobs behind their keyboards have left them alone (outside of the constant tirades on here) doesn't mean others have let up on James and the Hird family.

Francis should continue to be steered well clear of. He is not a pleasant piece of work.

I also don't know what else he expects the club to do. The AFL hold all the cards. You either live with it or follow another sport.
