Stevie Baker is in the EDFL playing for Craigieburn (A Grade), in which Craigieburn went down 5.8.38 to Maribyrnong Park 13.13.91. Supposedly started as the rover and was one of the better blokes in the guts but Mari never got out second gear and Craigie didn't have a forward structure hence the blowout. Can't seem to find a report on the match on the usual channels that states much of anything.

This week though they're down at the Keilor rec reserve @ 2:15 for round 2 v Keilor on Sat 21st.

Craigieburn will struggle. Bit of political off field stuff happening and are struggling for numbers.

Yeah heard about that (I do footy tipping at the SFSC and we're in the Ballarat league. They were looking at shifting to either the Bendigo or EDFL a couple years back but primarily came back with a no confidence due to two factors on the EDFL being money: supposedly they're paying players about 5x what the SFSC were and the grade we'd be slotted into being 2nd or 3rd division). Got the "recent" scoup on the EDFL this year since Sunbury had a praccie v Aberfeldie (Courtney Johns' team FYI, though he was only in attendance and not playing) of some issues in the backroom.

The old man is the one who noticed since he was in attendance and thus got the records and such and generally tries to keep up to date on the local scene. Just had a look in said book, appears Xavier is also lining for Avondale Heights as well. (also got spanked by Greenvale)

Barry Brooks was a big lure I think, given he also plays for Craigieburn and as mentioned in this thread won the league B and F last year. Paul Barnard is the coach and I believe a few issues stem from there.

Not the best St Kilda football player but certainly one that should be recognised. Born in St Kilda and really was an amazing man.

Andrew McQualter ... has been drafted by Resort Brokers Australia to flog businesses from Burleigh Heads to Coolangatta, working out of the company's Gold Coast office.

With Queensland's tourism business struggling because of a high dollar that makes a visit to Bali look more attractive than an outing to Dreamworld, perhaps pushing the Suns to a premiership might be an easier ask.

These days, he goes around with local team the Southport Sharks.

After my very first trip to Bali ( on the way home from Malaysia with family ) its hard to argue with that.
Its not just the dollar, its getting rorted for everything.
Newsflash a drink of Cola bottled in a machine doesnt need to cost 5 times more at Wet n Wild than it does at Waterbom.
Meals for my family over 5 days will cost something like one thousand dollars, which goes a long way towards a ticket. ( even more if you pay the inflated prices at the theme parks ).
The profiteering really hit home on a Virgin flight from Dempesar to Melbourne. Meals for purchase consisted of Pies and Sandwiches for ten bucks each. They ran out of Pies, and the ten dollar sandwitches were packaged in Indonesia.

The australian costs for transport etc ( and lack of options ) just top it off. Good luck Andrew, but Australian Tourism is following the manufacturing sector down the gurgler.

Don't why Saints delisted Luke Miles. Thought he was going to be a great player

Raph Clarke, who joined St Albans at the start of the GFL season, said he hadn’t had a lot to do with Colac over the years, apart from getting to know his former Saints teammate Steven Baker.

“I know Colac’s footy club is in around the same position as us so it’ll be a close game on Saturday and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.

“I know Steve Baker’s from Colac and I became good mates with him over the years, unfortunately the only time I went to Colac was for his father Greg’s funeral, but I wouldn’t mind catching up with Bakes again soon.”

“I’m definitely enjoying playing in the GFL, I’ve been playing in the AFL for the past nine years since I left school so to be out of the spotlight and have less pressure but still play a high standard of football has been good.”

St Albans coach Clint Proctor said Clarke had been a valuable addition.

“He’s a great guy on and off the field, he’s an excellent leader with the kids and on-field talking to the guys in the team. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”

Injuries? Just fizzed out? Other?

It's well known, especially amongst Saints supporters, that he EXPLODED onto the scene when he was 22, having 39 disposals on debut, in round 21, 1991 (Is that a record for most touches on debut?). Going by the stats, he finished 1991 quite well, then looks to have had a very good 1992 (although he trailed off a little in the last few games, but bounced back in the last game).

In 1993, he looks to have started good enough, but missed 6 weeks in the middle of the season. He came back for four "ok" games, but didn't play after round 14. 1994 was a similar story, but his career was over after round 15, which was a 20-disposal match for him.

would have been 100kg when he finished

we were a slow team

Rod Keogh probably took his spot

Yeah, I think he started getting injured a fair bit.

Burke moved into the midfield. Harvey, Keogh, Winmar, Dean Anderson, Kain Taylor, Damen Shaw (who didn't last that long either - a little slow too).

Greigy started fairly late, like Andrew Thompson.

Griegy wasn't built anything like Andrew Thompson.

A reference (in relation to Damian Sexton) gives an insight - quite an interesting article:

http://aussierules.australianrules.com.au/2002stories/sexton.html

Twice within a year, Sexton left AFL clubs because he wanted to return to his farm. He bought his first block of land outside Finley at 19.

Col Kinnear, then the Sydney coach, drove eight hours to try to persuade Sexton to remain with the Swans. "I'm not going back," the midfielder said.

Ken Sheldon wondered how often Sexton could drive between Finley and Moorabbin before driving up a tree.

Sexton played a handful of games in the reserves. After what he thought was a reasonable performance, considering his return from injury, he was surprised when he was called from the ground during the last quarter. (Ken Sheldon) "Jimmy Krakouer hasn't turned up. You're playing."

Krakouer eventually did show up but the 21-year-old knew he must be close to selection.

His opponent in his senior debut was to be Michael Tuck, who recently had notched his 400th game.

Tuck lined up on the debutant with a look of scorn and pointed out their respective game tallies.

Nicky Winmar was reported for kicking Brereton, later to be suspended for 10 games, before DiPierdomenico twisted Sexton's ear. Tony Lockett steamed into a pack to warn the shaken Dipper about laying off the kids.

At 178 centimetres, he was considered less than tall. His pace was suspect and, while his endurance and concentration were exemplary, he was competing against several teammates.

Craig O'Brien, Mick Dwyer, Adrian Fletcher and Dean Greig were all vying for spots against taller or quicker teammates.

He continued splitting his time. Sheldon brought matters to a head. "Here or there," he said. Sexton thought for a moment. "Righto, I'll be there."

At last count, he owned six farms.

"I look back and think I should have stuck it out," he said.

(I'll move this into the Former Player thread).

Max Bailey has not ruled out playing some games next season for Richmond's new stand-alone VFL side.

Another of Richmond's new development coaches, former St Kilda ... player Andrew McQualter, will play in the Tigers VFL team.

The coach will be Tim Clarke, who played 96 games for the Hawks.

The VFL Tigers have also announced the signing of former Melbourne player Aaron Davey.

Wasn't able to get on the park in 2013 (SANFL). Wang had previously gone after Kosi.

Wangaratta Rovers’ bold bid to become one of the physically stronger teams in the Ovens and Murray could continue with former St Kilda forward Daniel Archer joining pre-season training this week.

Archer trained with the Hawks on Monday night and was given a tour of the club’s facilities by head coach Paul Maher and some of the senior players.

Maher said the Hawks would dearly love to add the 193cm and 99kg Archer to their set-up.

“He is another ruckman type but could also hold down a key position, which would probably be full forward."

Jay Lever playing for Geelong VFL in 2014 and South Barwon when not required by the Cats.

So basically probably South Barwon all year? :p

Good luck to him though, hopefully he can show massive improvement and becoming a solid player.
