Our forward line over the last number of weeks has improved, well perhaps the setup atleast.

With Gill, Stevens, and Johncock and the rotating Moran/Maric, Douglas, Goodwin and Vince.

I like it, I actually like the setup now more than the setup when we had Burton in the side. No offense to Burton.

What does everyone else think?

I mean sure we would love Porps in the side, but at the current moment its the best available, and to be honest, its working pretty well.

I know improved delivery over the last couple of weeks cannot be discounted, but surely a fit Nick Gill and an in form Scott Stevens being moved there have made a considerable difference, not to mention Stiffy Johncock, who has improved on his game last week.

Can you afford to play Porp come finals? Considering the rise in intensity that comes in finals can you afford to play a guy who has zero defensive pressure (and can't lay an effective tackle), given his shoulder??

I love Gilly, a real x-factor about his game.

If his kicking improved, would almost be a gun player.

Let’s not judge it on the last 2 weeks, Richmond and Essendon are 11th and 12th for a reason. Let’s see how this mega awesome forward line holds up against the 9th (8th if the beat Carlton) placed St kilda and the 3rd based Western Bulldogs over the next 2 rounds.

Yeah the last 4 weeks we have played some pretty good football but we have played the 10th, 11th and 12th placed sides. We beat the 4th placed Sydney side but only managed to kick 11 goals – let’s judge this forward line against some quality before saying it has improved.

Our delivery into the forwrd line has definitely improved, we seem to be hitting alot more leding targets.

Delivery or is it the defensive pressure (or lack thereof) being applying by the opposition?

With no defensive pressure, most AFL player should be able to pin point a pass from 50 meter away. It only gets difficult once the defensive pressure is applied

Add to that the guys we have down there are actually leading.

Prior to Butron getting hurt he was the only one providing movement, and he often was caught behind his man when the ball came forward. Tippet seemed to stand still and want to use his body to outmark. Although he was starting to lead.

Gill Moran and Stevens all lead for the ball. In Gill we also have someone at CHF to straighten us up.

Is the forward line set-up comprising these players good enough to win finals against the top 4, given our very solid midfield and even more solid defence:

HF: Goodwin, Stevens, Johncock
FF: Porplyzia, Gill, Vince

+ contributions from Douglas, Moran, Maric.

The talls look vulnerable as their best and worst is a long way apart but the good efforts from our resting rucks tend to mitigate this factor, along with quality mediums/smalls.

For mine, i reckon we can go into any game with at least a 50:50 chance, except for Geelong where it is more 15:85. Having said that, i am sick of the reverence everyone has for Geelong. Yes they are a great team in great form but they are not unbeatable. Unfortunately, their reputation is now worth a few goals on its own judging from comments made by most players and coaches across the league. Need the Crows to make the GF and have an 'if it bleeds, you can kill it' pep-talk:thumbsu:

Or maybe break down the way Collingwood beat them, and ahve been the most competitive team against them

I have a feeling in the finals one team will do that. Like Brisbane did in 01. They came up with a plan to beat the Dons in the Grand Final and did.
