The destruction of our forward line pillars

Rumours of our pillars’ death have been greatly exaggerated
We seem to be trying to move it faster. For example: we switched the ball a LOT on the weekend trying to get better forward entries.

To be fair if there were two top nine teams I had faith in our fast ball movement for, it’d be Bulldogs and Gold Coast, which is mainly because of how they defend. I’ll hold out for the Hawks and Pies games to judge if this ball movement holds up against finalists in general.

Would still prefer that ROB stay out of the F50 for ball ups and let Tex or even Fog take them instead.

Keep ROB a kick behind the play where his marking is of greater benefit.

I don't mind too much if he heads in there and actually takes the ruck contest. What is infuriating is when he rolls down there, Tex takes the ruck contest and ROB stands 10m off the pack in no man's land. Haven't noticed that for a while though, not sure it's still happening.

Well, defensively we didn't have every player on the team within a kick of the ball, trying to lock it into one wing, for some goddam reason.

Which is why we should always get into a shoot-out to outscore the other team.

I back our forwards to do more damage than the opposition as our defence generally holds up well.

We actually hit leads.

The risk with hitting up leads is that it is a 1 on 1. And you don't want to hit up leads if you don't trust your talent to win the ball against their opponent. You only don't want to create 50/50s if you don't trust that your players will win the contest. We have the talent that, I reckon, we'd be stupid not to roll that dice. You then trust the peripheral players to get to those contests and do their business. And our peripherals in that sense, are the Racheles, Rankines, Taylors etc.

One thing that is clear is that our list is good enough. How we select and deploy is the only factor limiting our ceiling.

Faster footy = more successful footy

Provided you are prepared to run the other way too, of course

I krud you not, 4 years ago our full throttle, go forward way of playing was successful. Although, it wasn't successful all game and we couldn't sustain it week to week. But it's the only way we should play. We're not number winners at the stoppage, we shouldn't be trying to increase that aspect. We want the ball outside, where our spread and other competitive advantages take hold.
