Does anyone know if there are any uncontracted forwards this year that we may be able to get our hands on? I know we struggle to attract players at Geelong, but now that we've had a successful year that could change.. we only need 1 key forward who can kick 75 goals a year to be a real flag contender.. Kent Kingsley could do it if he knew how to kick and stopped turning it over when he decides to short pass it from 40m out

the forwards that are out of contract that i know of are:
Andrew Mcdougall
Daniel Bandy
Damon White
Patrick Bowden
Fraser Gehrig
Hamish Mcintosh
Russel Robertson
Brad Ottens
Paul Johnson

Maybe we should ask which Key forwards(we have enough small and mids) are available and which are gettable

Andrew Mcdougall , dreamin
Daniel Bandy , no danks
Damon White , who
Patrick Bowden , looked ok at times but is he really a
Fraser Gehrig , goin nowhere
Hamish Mcintosh , more of a ruckman than forward
Russel Robertson , would have to go to the bank but has appeal
Brad Ottens , Diamond that has lost its lustre, unlikely to come here
Paul Johnson , gettable no doubt, what cost and is he up to it?

Not sure if Daniel Bradshaw is out ouf contract. certainly would a handy pick up for the Cats.

I hope the Cats stick up the Bombers tonight.

Wet night tonight could be good for us :) doesnt matter bout carrots being suspended now and lloydy and lucas shouldnt have much of a say in the game... hopefully johno, gazza and chappy are on their game coz there will be plenty of opportunities for crumbers to kick goals! COME ON CATTERS!

What about taking a gamble with some players from the SANFL and WAFL, West Coast did it with Troy Wilson and was a resonable success

WAFL:
Brad Smith (SUBIACO), 104 goals this year, 25 years of age, would be an alright pickup, still at that age it may be a gamble.

Dont speakth the words of the devil.

No to Smith, we might as well draft the guy playing in tougher comp VFL as a top up player for us from local club St Joeys, Arron Greeves
Look, last night we played a club who we have used as a template as how to draft. We are in a Prelim again and why, draft quality kids and draft young players who have lacked opportunity but ensuring they have plenty of years left in them. We have been talked up as being the template ourselves, for clubs like the Hawks and Tigers.Times is on our side, we now have a list that most of which will have played three finals by the end of this year and is super young, lets not lose direction now, keep with what has got us here. Recruit players like Harley or KK , no problem they are now thought of and think of themselves as Cats, criteria any recuit must be able to play 100 plus games for the club.
As Ive said before, I've followed Geelong thru thick and thin, will be following the Cats when Thompson is gone, when King is gone , when GAJ is gone.We must always remember to recruit for today and tomorrow
So apart from the names we have al heard let me toss these 2 guys into the mix -
Adam Pattison , could sombody who has seen Adam play give me the drum on the type of player he is.He was named TAC CHF in team of the year, beating more highly fancied names like Roughead and Willets. He is playing in the Allies game coming up and it will be interesting to hear reports
Tom Murphy who was named at CHB in the same side is another who deserves some attention. He aparently can also play at CHF so could be a handy type.

Now that's an idea. Wonder why we've not tried that in the past.

I wasnt being a smart arse.

Geelong have done so well with running players in their side without the early picks that i thought you should be able to find one somewhere in the draft.

The cats need to get one of the following gun young forwards in the draft.

J Roughead
A Willets
L Franklin

To do this the cats have to approach Richmond Hawthorn & Bulldogs and offer them a package to get either pick 4 5 or 6. I would think we could offer our first draft choice (pick 18ish) and any two of the following D Wocjinski, J Corey, K Kingsley, C Mooney or J Hunt. It would hurt but you have to be prepared to give up apples for apples.

We could go after Brett Burton from Adelaide and give them our second pick.
or
Lance Whitnall for our second pick and Spriggs and Rahilly

No way in hell I'd give up our first round pick with two of Woj, JC, Moons or Josh just for a snippet at anyone of Roughead, Willits, or Franklin.

More like trading a basket full of ripe fruits for seedlings if anything.

We dont want Whitnall..no way...
Burton would be a great pick up, but what would we have to give up to get him?
I definately wouldnt be offering corey, hunt, wojcinski...maybe we can give away our first draft pick, spriggs, rahilly, chambers and slade for someone?? at least it would get rid of or duds!

It's quite ironic how we "dont have a forward line" yet can be playing off in a preliminary final. Lets make our defence even stronger so we only concede 5 goals a game, surely we cant lose then :D

A lot of supporters still see as a bunch of young and ordinary players who have a dip, and have just been very lucky this year.

Guess it takes some sustained good form to change opinions.

Cam Bruce an option?
